Reggie is an Affectionate Ball Fetcher who won’t turn down a belly rub! He’s about four years old and an amazing dog who knows lots of tricks. He likes other dogs and people he knows.
Reggie was adopted by his trainer, Phillip.
I joined the HOPE dog program over three years ago and Reggie came into the program a little over two and a half years ago. Reggie was from the ACCT Philly Shelter. He was picked up as a stray in a bad neighborhood of Philadelphia and had a lot of issues when he first got here. He was covered in scars and scabs and appeared to have been used as a bait dog or for something equally as bad.
Through the course of time, I was able to build a bond with Reggie that is indescribable. As Reggie learned through his training, I learned from Reggie as well. To be able to see Reggie grow and overcome so many obstacles through training, love, and the common bond we shared is great to see. To live in a prison cell with a dog isn’t easy at times, but the end result was all worth it. I don’t regret one moment of it. I will always have the everlasting memories of the time Reggie and I shared in prison.
When my release neared, I couldn’t bear to think about leaving Reggie behind. I was sick to my stomach the day that I left Reggie behind and I actually cried because he became apart of my heart. I always told the HOPE program that I was going to adopt Reggie once I was released and that dream came true this past week.
I was reunited with Reggie a few days ago. I’m so happy that I was able to adopt him and give him a forever home that he’s so much deserved. To be with Reggie on a daily basis is a constant reminder to me of where we came from and how far we’ve come and to never go back. I cannot thank the HOPE program enough for giving me the opportunity to adopt Reggie and being able to see him be a dog outside of the prison walls. The HOPE program was the best program that I ever participated in while in prison. It taught me a whole new sense of responsibility and to put something other than myself first for once that being Reggie. As I write this, he is laying next to me on his back getting belly rubs with his paws in the air enjoying his life in his forever home.
The HOPE program has been such a positive experience in my life that I will never forget about. I’m truly grateful that I was able to be apart of HOPE at SCI Camp Hill. I would like to thank the HOPE volunteers and prison staff for allowing me to participate in this program. Thank you, Kaitlin, for giving me the opportunity to spend my life with Reggie. I can never thank you enough.
Reggie has learned how to auto-sit this week and to target, not quite 100% so we will continue to work on those new skills. Of course he loves to play ball and tug of war. He met Ace and they aren’t fond of each other. Reggie really does not like the rain. When we go out to potty and it’s raining, he does his business and immediately wants to go back inside. Most of his toys are under the bed in a mesh bag and when he gets bored, Reggie will pull his toy bag out and root through it to get what he wants out. He’s such a funny dog!
Since the last training session, I have been working with Reggie on his auto-sit. Reggie understands the action he should perform, but he is easily distracted. He is on point for short periods. He is smart and a quick study and he is strong-willed. Reggie will auto-sit for the leash quickly when he knows we are going outside to play ball. Reggie is so funny with Penny. He gets zoomies to get Penny to chase him. I gave Reggie a bath yesterday and he definitely does not like water. After drying him with towels, he jumped onto the bed to rub (dry) his head better all the while making these funny little growly, half barks. What a ham.
Reggie made it through the lock down by sleeping a lot. When he was finally allowed outside, his batteries were fully recharged and he couldn’t wait to play ball. Reggie made friends with Penny, a little terrier. He is so funny when he gets excited and gets the zoomies. Running around with his butt tucked and jumping straight up in the air like a bucking horse.
Reggie is a highly intelligent dog that listens very well. There are times that are challenging for Reggie and I because I am still learning about him and he is becoming accustomed to me. He enjoys playing ball and sniffing for voles. Reggie will stick his snout in the hole and exhale forcefully and will inhale over and over again! It’s really funny. In the morning when I walk him, he goes potty regularly and gets playful sometimes. Today after he went potty and I bagged up the poop, Reggie started to run in circles and I slipped. I tried to break my fall, but I popped the bag of poop all over my hand. Reggie must have thought that was funny because he decided to run me over when I was down. All in all, I am enjoying my time with Reggie and happy to participate in the HOPE program.
This is Reggie’s last week with me because I’ll be leaving in a few days. I’ll be cherishing every moment I get to spend with him because the time is nearing that I’ll be leaving Reggie. Over the past few years, Reggie has grown and become a great dog and my best friend. We’ve both learned a lot from each other. Reggie taught me what the meaning of a true friendship really is because his love and loyalty towards me is more than I can express in words. He taught me to put something other than myself first and has helped restore my sense of responsibility. To be in prison and come back to my cell and see Reggie happy to see me every time really makes life better for the both of us in here. I would like to thank HOPE for giving me an opportunity to be a part of this program, as well as the prison staff here at Camp Hill. The program is hands down the best thing I’ve ever done in prison and I don’t regret one minute of it. With that said, Reggie, I’ll love you and miss you until I can finally bring you to my house and give you the forever home you deserve!! Until that day hopefully in the very near future, I know Reggie will be in good hands and well taken care of which makes me happy!
Reggie met Shadow this week and did well. He has been working with a new handler and they’re doing very well as they both get to know each other. Reggie went to the football game and behaved great off leash playing with us. This was a big accomplishment. He stayed right with us and didn’t try to wander off at all. We spent four hours playing. When he was tired, he’d flop onto his back for some belly rubs and then jump up and be ready to play again. He snored loudly when we got back to the cell. Reggie was so tired when all was said and done.
Reggie went to his first football game of the season and had a lot of fun outside with us. He was very well behaved and really enjoyed playing with all of his friends. Once you build a bond with Reggie, he is such a loving and loyal dog. I’m really happy to see all of the progress that Reggie has made and it makes me happy to see other people getting the chance to know him.
This week Reggie has been working with a new handler and is doing well, which is good to see. He has made a few new friends and is coming along well. He went to the gym and softball field where he had a lot of fun. When we were in the gym, they had two giant bags of basketballs that weren’t good anymore so we decided to let Reggie play with them. It was so funny because we took both bags to half court with Reggie following right behind us of course and dumped all the balls out at the same time. Reggie was beside himself chasing each ball around. Then we kicked all the balls to the end of the gym and he chased after them so we kicked each ball one at a time to the other end. He waited patiently for each one. He was having so much fun that he didn’t want to stop playing his game.
This week Reggie played with Calvin and did very well. He also had fun hunting with Gia. They followed each other around from one mole hole to the next, trying to find moles but never catching any. They were quite the team and it was hysterical. We worked on touching objects, mainly his ball, and he is doing well with that. With all the rain he hasn't had a lot of time to play fetch and run around, so he has been playing with his buddies on the block and really enjoying himself.
This week Reggie played with his little buddy, Calvin, and did well. He went to the gym and the softball field, running around and playing fetch. He gets so excited and happy when he gets to go to work with me and it's great to see him want to be out interacting with people. He gives them kisses, lets them pet him and rub his belly and chest. It's been a long road to get Reggie where he is, but the hard work and Reggie's steady progress is showing.
This week Reggie played with Khloe and did very well. He also played with Calvin and they continue to have a good time. Calvin has quickly become Reggie's little buddy and they're so cute to see resting together in the shade after they've played hard. Calvin is usually ready for round two before too long and he will start jumping all over Reggie, giving him kisses on his face. Ole Reggie just lies there and tolerates Calvin's playful puppy crazy! Reggie also went to the softball field this week and had a good time playing fetch with his human friends. And always, after all the fun, Reggie will lie on his back, sunning and enjoying the admiration of passers by.
This week Reggie did very well with Khloe. She is a new dog who has some trouble reacting to other dogs. They had fun playing and he seeks her attention when he sees her. It has been too hot to play as much fetch outside as usual so we've played tug-of-war and socializing with treats and belly rubs indoors. He did get to play fetch in the field with his buddies from the gym. Afterwards we came back and watched Sports Center and took a nap.
This week Reggie had a lot of fun going to the gym and playing in the baseball field. There were a lot of new people, the most since he has been going out with me. He did great with everyone and played fetch with the guys till he was exhausted. Once he was tired, he rolled over and let a bunch of the guys come scratch his belly. He also played fetch with another sergeant on the block. He even played completely off leash with one of the sergeants that he has been interacting with. The sergeant asked Reggie to drop the ball and back up. Reggie followed commands and it was awesome to see how far he has come!
This week Reggie had a blast playing with the guys. He went to a softball game and played off leash for the first time with all of his friends at the game. We were in the back part of the field and he would chase a ball, bringing it back to a different person each time. It was funny that he always picked someone new and not the guy who threw it. He also played fetch with a sergeant on the block, which is really cool because he was never interested in playing with them before. He's starting to approach them for affection and back scratches. And of course, he's still soaking up the sun, lying on this back, and amusing his fan club!
This week Reggie has been playing with Calvin, Dexter, and Gia. He did very well! He also met Ollie and did well with him. We played fetch too. Reggie hit a milestone this week! While we were walking out front, two women he'd never met before were walking by and stopped by the fence, asking to see Reggie. I took him over and he was rubbing against the fence. The women bent down and put their hand near the fence. He allowed them to rub his back! Very surprising! Not only that, but he played fetch in the kennel with a sergeant that he used to dislike! It was amazing! He has come a long way in the past couple of months!
This week Reggie played with Calvin again. He also attended his first softball game of the year and he had a lot of fun playing with his toys, running around the field, playing fetch, and playing with his soccer ball. He is also the new 'funny guy' in the front yard when he goes into a roll where he tucks his head slowly, rolls to his back, cocks his head to the side and puts his paws in the air. He lays there with the sun beating down on his belly while people walk by, laughing and calling to him. When they call him, he just lifts his head and looks at them. Makes them laugh even more.
This week Reggie played with Calvin and Dexter. He also got to play with the big purple ball out back and chase it around. He bounced it off his head, looking like a crazy seal, and barking the whole time. He also played fetch off leash with Calvin and did really well! Both of them chased their balls around. He hasn’t been to the gym in a while, so I’m sure he’ll be happy to get there this weekend so he can see all his human buddies. He also hasn’t had much time to work on his tan outside because of the weather, but yesterday he took advantage of the sun, lying on his back, carefree as can be.
This week Reggie was stuck indoors a lot because of the rain, so we have made our own fun inside! I brought out a bunch of toys and a ball, of course, and he played tug-of-war with the soccer ball with a new guy he has hardly ever interacted with before. We also played fetch with the ball off the wall by the cell and he had a grand time with that. Reggie is always entertaining!
This week Reggie played with Stewie, Dexter, and Calvin. He also went to the gym to run around with his human friends. The guys got in a circle and we played kickball with him while the little tank chased the balls. He especially loves my boss and follows that guy everywhere! He also accepted a new guy into his circle of friends. It's the first time he let the guy pet him and it was good to see them become friends, because Reggie is afraid of people and this dude is afraid of dogs! It was a week for overcoming fears! While he was petting him, Reggie was looking back over his shoulder like, 'See, this ain't so bad, is it?'
This week Reggie played with Calvin, Stewie, and Gia and did very well. Everyone had a good time. He also went to the park and drank a milkshake, which I'm sure he enjoyed. He has been playing with a bunch of the guys on the block and he has warmed up to the block sergeant enough that he can pet him. I never thought that would happen. He has come a long way with people over the past few months and it makes me happy to see his progress. He has been loving this nice weather and when we go out in the sun he rolls onto his back with his rear legs stretched out and his front paws in the air. He throws his head side-to- side with that crazy tongue flopping around. He just lies there wiggling in the sun with his eyes closed, while the lunch line walks by laughing and calling to him. He looks at me like, 'What? I'm trying to even my tan!
This week Reggie got to finally enjoy the nice weather and get outside to enjoy himself. He has been ripping around and we've been playing fetch. He's also been playing fetch with other people and of course, we went to the gym where now he plays soccer with us. Reggie's friend circle has grown so much over the past few months! He started out just playing with and trusting only three people, but as of last week he was approaching 30 different people and asking them to play. The funny thing is that Reggie has his eye on one specific person to play with, but that guy hasn't started to play with him yet. Here comes Reggie, with the ball, dropping it at his feet, backing up and staring like, 'Come on man! Play with me! It's fun, I promise!' Reggie has met the human form of himself! Reggie loves being at the gym because he trusts the guys and he gets lots of loves and belly rubs. He really enjoys being the center of attention.
This week Reggie played with his buddies, as he has been doing for a few weeks now. He also met the new girl, Gia, and they played on leash a little. Reggie has been working on 'touching' objects this week. I can get him to touch the door, the wall and the light switch. He hasn't learned to turn if on or off yet, but he does touch it on command. It's our goal to teach him how to turn it on and off! He's such a fun little tank!
This week Reggie continues to play with Calvin and Stewie. He remains tolerant and playful with both of them. The fact that he is bigger than both puppies makes him look like a dad. Reggie interacts really well with anyone who is willing to play with him and he will go for hours. By the time he gets back to the cell he is ready for bed. He is a low-riding snuggle bear! Reggie knows: 'sit,' 'stay', 'down,' 'out,' 'shake,' 'watch,' 'hi-five,' 'back up,' 'leave it,' 'roll over,' 'chin,' and 'recall.'
Mostly Reggie just wants to play, play, play. He's still getting on well with both of the little guys, Calvin & Stewie, and they all look forward to play time with each other. It's interesting to see Reggie be so gentle and tolerant.Reggie also got to play a lot of fetch this week and as always, when playtime is over, the little guy lays in the bed next to me, puts his head on my chest, and snores like a bear.
This week Reggie played with Dexter, Trevor and his new best bud, Stewie. He had a lot of fun playing, especially with Stewie. The other day when they were playing, Stewie rolled onto his back with his paws in the air, and Stewie usually barks or backs up and pounces on Reggie, but this time he rolled onto his back and started wiggling on his back like a breakdancer next to Reggie. When they both stopped, Stewie’s head was under Reggie’s. They were so cute to see together! #Reggie’sBFF
This week Reggie played with Stewie and he continues to enjoy his little buddy. It's not often he has to give him correction, but when he does, it's appropriate. As usual, we went to the gym and had a blast playing with everyone there. He was being his usual funny, playful Reggie self. We all stood at different parts of the gym and he would run to each of us to throw his ball. Then he would run and get the ball, then run to a different person every time and have them throw. He did this until he finally wore himself out, then went and lay down. And as usual, after the gym he came back and snored like a bear.
This week, Reggie played with Dexter and he also met Stewie! It’s like he found his new best friend. Reggie loves Stewie, cries and whines to go play with him, and so we finally let them off leash together. While they were playing, Reggie rolled over on his back and stayed very still, letting Stewie smell him. Then Stewie did the play bow and started barking, telling Reggie, ‘Hey, get up! Let’s play!’ It’s great to see Reggie interact with Stewie and watch the two of them give kisses.
This week Reggie went to the gym as usual and had a blast interacting with all the guys. This week we played fetch with him. He would scramble after the ball and take it to a different person to throw it for him. He’s an equal opportunity canine! And the for the person that threw it to him he would trot over afterward and look at them like, 'I’ll be back.' We all had to laugh at his silliness. Reggie is such a great guy after he gets to know you. Just roll him a ball and you’re in!
This week Reggie played with Dexter and his little buddy, Thorne. Reggie and Thorne have become good friends and it’s still so funny to Reggie, who is so much bigger than Thorne, play and interact. Little Thorne walks right up to Reggie and smells all over Reggie’s face, backs up, and then the play starts. After a little while of playing, Reggie rolls over to his back with his paws in the air and head out to the side, and just lies there. Thorne then walks up, smells him for a second, and jumps away again. He looks at his handler and does the same thing, again and again. It’s so funny to see the two of them play this game. Reggie also went on an outing with HOPE staff and was more relaxed than the last time. He still didn’t jump into the car by himself, but after he was in, he did well. They said he liked his walk, practiced his skills to help him with his confidence, and had a relaxing time, hamming it up for his photo shoot.
This week Reggie played with Dexter and did very well. He also has become buddies with little Thorne and it’s very funny to see Reggie play with such a little dog. We went to the gym, which is pretty much his favorite place. We played fetch, running around, playing with the guys and then following my boss everywhere he went. It’s good to see Reggie having such fun with people. When we came back he took a nap next to me, snoring his big bear snores, with his legs all stretched out and his head on the corner of the pillow. He’s so cute to see! Reggie is doing well meeting new people if they roll a ball to him first, so he can see that they just want to have fun with him.
This week Reggie played with Thorne and did well. (Thorne is the little guy on the block.) He also went to the gym and had a lot of fun playing fetch and chasing his red ball around with the guys in the gym. He has been playing well with people he knows and it’s good to see him do well with the friends he has made. It’s really great to see how happy and excited he gets when he sees my boss when he comes to get him. He runs up to him, runs all around him, and then waits for him to pet him. He knows when it’s time to go and if he could talk he would say, 'Let’s go! I’m ready to play!' The best way for Reggie to make friends is to play ball with them.
This week Reggie played with Thorne and Dexter and did well. He also went to the gym as usual, and had a lot of fun playing and chasing his ball around with a couple of the guys and myself. He LOVED watching the 'Puppy Bowl' on TV and sat in front of the set for hours, watching the puppies run because he wanted to play with them! It was so funny to see. Then he got in bed and watched the Super Bowl with me. Every time we clapped or cheered for the Eagles, he would jump off the bed and run back and forth all excited. Then he would come to give me kisses. It was fun to watch him enjoy himself so much. Reggie knows 'sit,' 'sit/stay,' 'down,' 'down/stay,' 'touch,' 'watch,' 'chin,' 'come recall,' 'shake,' 'high-five,' 'sit pretty,' 'spin around,' 'roll over,' 'leave it,' 'out,' and 'wait.'
This week Reggie spent a few days locked in with me and he did very well, considering the situation we were in. We played with his toys and worked on his training. He also had to be muzzled because of the cell searchers. He did great with it, which was a surprise to me. When he was finally able to get out and go to the gym he ran around there like he hadn’t been in months. He raced back and forth all around the basketball court until he finally released all that pent up energy. Then he came over to play ball with us until he was exhausted. When we got back to the cell he snored like a bear! Reggie is working on ‘sit pretty’ and doing really well with his other skills.
This week Reggie was with Dexter did well. He has also taken a liking to Thorne and they interact well together. I took Reggie to the gym again for the basketball game and he had a ton of fun playing with a few of the guys there and of course chasing his big red ball around until he was exhausted. Reggie has been doing very well and it makes me happy to see the progress he has made over the course of time. When we get back from the gym and visiting, he jumps on the bed and waits for me to lay down. He rolls on his back with his paws in the air so I can scratch his belly until he falls asleep.
This week Reggie met Dexter and did well. He has also been doing well meeting Jarvis. He also got to go out in the snow and run around. He loves the snow and it’s funny to see him run in circles and jump back and forth in the snow. He also went to the gym and had a lot of fun playing fetch and chasing us around with the basketball. Then we went over to the game room and had tons of fun running around playing with his toys and watching everyone put the games together. He also did something funny since Reggie loves my boss. He was watching him put the game together and when he lay on his back to put the screw in the bottom of the table Reggie went over and tried to give him a million kisses on his face. It was funny to see!
Reggie knows 'sit,' 'sit/stay,' 'down,' 'down/stay,' 'touch,' 'watch,' 'shake,' 'high-five,' 'back-up,' 'out,' 'leave it,' 'chin,' 'roll over,' and 'come recall.'
This week Reggie did his usual and went to the gym with me and had a lot of fun running around and playing fetch with me and a couple of other guys. He also remembered where they had made a ball wall for him last week and as soon as he got to the gym, he ran right to where it was and was walking back and forth looking for it. He let out a deep breath, looked at me and back at the empty spot twice, as if to say, 'Well, where the heck is my play wall?' It was funny to see. Reggie knows 'sit/stay,' 'down/stay,' 'touch,' 'watch,' 'out,' 'back up,' 'leave it,' 'wait,' 'shake,' 'hi-five,' and 'sit pretty,' and does a muzzle rest in my palm. Reggie is still fearful of new people. He sits and I allow them to throw the ball to him from a distance.
This week Reggie went to the gym a couple of times and did very well. He had a great time on Saturday because another handler and one of Reggie’s friends that he plays with all the time built Reggie a big square barrier that had four high walls on each side. Reggie got to play with his ball, chasing it and flipping it with his head, and making his 'yippie' noise. H was so excited and happy about his new play pen that he couldn't care less about the basketball game. He played in there for hours and we had to take it down or he wouldn’t have stopped! When he was done, we came back to the cell and he slept all afternoon, snoring like a bear! Reggie is still freaked out by new people, but I let them roll the ball to him from a distance and he is good with that.
Reggie went to the gym as usual this week and had fun playing with the ball. He had a lot of fun on the housing unit running around with a soccer ball in his mouth too. He was running around like a goofball trying to get anyone to play with him. When he got tired, he came to my cell and lay his head on my lap to watch the basketball games on TV until he fell asleep.
Reggie met Thorne this week and did pretty well. Reggie went to the gym as usual and had fun chasing his red ball. He has really taken to my boss and follows him everywhere he goes. When Reggie first sees him, he rubs up against him and jumps around. It is really good to see Reggie build so much trust and love for my boss over the course of time. He loves to cuddle and watch TV at night before he falls asleep and snores like a bear!
This week Reggie and Jarvis did well together. He got to go to a basketball game too. When the game was over, Reggie went onto the court and played with the basketball. He played some stellar defense while chasing the ball back and forth on the court. I was proud of him.
This week Reggie played with Tiffany and did well. He also meets Jarvis on a daily basis and is doing very well with him. He went to the big field for the last time of the year since now it’s winter. Reggie now looks forward to playing in the gym and loves going to the basketball games.
This week Reggie met Jarvis and did well. Reggie went to the basketball game over the weekend. He had fun following my boss around and running in the gym. Reggie did very well with a guy he’s been around for a little while now. He dropped his ball at the guy’s feet for the first time ever as if to say, 'Here’s your chance. Do you want to play with me or not?' Reggie listened to every command the guy gave him. They played fetch for a while and before long, they were best buddies.
This week Reggie met Jenny and did well. He played with Tiffany too and had a lot of fun. He also went to the football field and gym. Reggie loves to be loose in the field to chase the ball from one end to the other. He played soccer in the field with one of my friends. Reggie loves to steal the soccer ball, but he brings it back. He’s also adding more people to the list who he is comfortable with to take treats from.
My boss gave Reggie a football to play with so that is his new favorite toy that he takes everywhere with him. It’s funny to see him walking around with the football in his mouth and his head up in the air as if to say, 'Look at me and my football!'
This week Reggie played with Tango and Tiffany and did well. He also went to the football game. He really had fun chasing the flag when the referee threw it and Reggie brought it back and dropped it for him. He also got to go to the big yard this week and played fetch with my boss and a few other people. It’s really good to see Reggie getting comfortable with new people over the course of time and playing with them.
Reggie played with Tango and met Jenny this week. He also made great strides with Tiffany. They both actually want to go and play with the other every time they see each other. They have played together while still being on leash a lot lately. Reggie went to the football game and had fun playing fetch and getting treats. He also played fetch with my boss in a big field and had a lot of fun.
Reggie is fearful of new people and takes time to get used to them. Over the course of time, with using the ball, it helps him feel comfortable around new people. I have them roll the ball to Reggie, tell him to drop it, pick it up, and continue doing this with shortening the distance. Reggie and Tiffany continue to interact with each other while both on leash. They smell each other and Tiffany likes to lick Reggie’s face and under his neck. These two have come a long way and it’s great to see them finally get along.
This week Reggie played with Tango and they had a lot of fun chasing each other around. Reggie also achieved a milestone with Tiffany. Reggie and Tiffany were on the leash together out front and not reacting towards each other which was weird. So Tiffany’s handler and I let the dogs get closer together so they could smell each other. Shockingly enough, neither dog reacted poorly and we kept the interaction brief. This was really good to see and I’m glad to see progress in both Reggie and Tiffany.
This week Reggie played with Tango and did well. They had fun playing together. He played fetch and chased the ball around until he was tired. Reggie did his famous roll onto his back with his paws in the air and head to the side until he falls asleep. Reggie is a very loving, playful, energetic dog who loves to give kisses, have his belly rubbed, and take naps with you.
Reggie played with Tango this week. He also went to another football game. He played fetch on leash with different people and even took treats from the people at the game which was a big step for Reggie because he is fearful of new people. I was very proud of him and happy to see how much better he is getting as he gets used to being around more people. When he was done playing, he walked over to the end zone and sat down to watch the game. One of the referees had a flag in his hand and I noticed Reggie was staring at it. When the referee threw the flag for a penalty, Reggie ran over, got the flag in his mouth, brought it back, and dropped it. Reggie fetched the flag for the referee the rest of the game.
Reggie went to his first football game and did very well. That was funny to watch him sit down and watch the game especially when there was a long pass because you could watch him follow the ball with his head going from the quarterback to where the ball was thrown. Reggie acted really funny when I tried to bring him back from the gym the other day. Once he realized we were walking back to the cell, he lay down and rolled over with his paws in the air like he was dead. He refused to move and didn't want to get up at all. It was very funny to see.
This week Reggie played with Brownie and Tango. He seems to really enjoy playing with Tango and it's funny to see them play together. Tango likes to run up to Reggie, hit him with his two front paws, and then dance circles around Reggie. Reggie decided to start jumping over Tango when Tango runs at him. That's now their new game until they get tired. Reggie has also been getting somewhat better with how he reacts towards correctional officers which has been great to see.
This week Reggie met Obie and did well. He played with Brownie and Tango too. Reggie went to the big yard to play fetch and chase the ball around. Afterwards, Reggie lay on his back with his usual head to the side and paws in the air while his eyes were closed sunning himself. Reggie didn't even notice how many people would stop to look at him. He was just happy to lay there and soak up the sun.
This week Reggie played with Brownie and Tango. He seems to be having a lot of fun chasing Tango around and playing with him. He loves his new toy pig and takes it everywhere with him in his mouth and loves to make it oink. Reggie loves nothing more than playing with his ball, but the pig is a close second!
This week Reggie played with Brownie and Tango. It's really funny to watch Tango walk up to Reggie, play bow in front of him, and then hit Reggie with his two front paws in the chest before running away as fast as he can while Reggie chases after him. Reggie can never catch Tango so he ends up sitting down and waiting for Tango to walk back up to him so they can start this whole process all over again. It's so nice that these two have taken an interest in each other and can play and have so much fun together.
This week Reggie played with Brownie and Tango. Reggie and Tango are becoming friends very fast and it's funny to see them interact together because Reggie is so much bigger than little Tango. When they see each other, Tango runs up to Reggie so they can smell each other and then they take off running back and forth while Reggie tries to catch Tango. The funniest thing was when Reggie did his famous roll over onto his back and flopped his head to the side with his leg straight in the air and just stayed like that. Tango walked towards him and backed up twice before he started barking at Reggie while he was lying like that. So Reggie rolled over and had no idea why Tango was barking at him and Reggie started barking towards the building and then they continued to bark together. So now they both barked at the building together and had no idea why they were barking.
This week Reggie played with Tango and Brownie. Reggie did very well playing with the soccer ball with strangers this week too. He was very well behaved and everyone else had a great time playing with him. It was good to see Reggie have so much fun with new people.
This week Reggie played with Brownie, Ozzie, and Tango. Reggie went to the softball game this weekend and did very well. Reggie loves my boss and get so excited when he sees him. Reggie was connected to my boss at the hip everywhere he went. My boss had to open a bunch of doors and when he would get to each door to put the key in, Reggie would sit down and wait for the door to open and then run to the next one once it opened. It's very good to see Reggie really bond and show his love and affection with the people he's built trust and love for over the course of time.
This week Reggie played with Ozzie and Brownie. He did well with meeting Tango. Brownie and Reggie played with a jolly ball together. They shared a bowl of water afterwards and then Reggie passed out in the sun with his belly in the air and head cocked to one side.
This week Reggie played with Ozzie, Tango, and Brownie. He had a play date with Brownie like always in her cell and they played until they were exhausted. Brownie did something really funny when she and Reggie were outside playing fetch. Reggie was looking for a ball when they first got out there and he couldn't find one. Brownie found one, picked it up, and came over to Reggie. She dropped the ball and rolled it over to him with her nose and sat down. Reggie ran over to the ball, looked at it, and gave Brownie some kisses on her face as if to say thank you, then ran off to play fetch. All we could do was laugh.
Reggie went to work with me and had fun like always. He played fetch and ran around the office including up and down the steps. He spent a lot of time this week learning how to roll over, which he is getting better at as the days go by.
This week Reggie played with Brownie and Ozzie. He went to the big yard with Angel and they both ran off and did their own thing. He played fetch with Brownie and they had fun chasing the ball like always. Then Reggie did his famous sunbathing thing where he stops playing, gets a drink, and then rolls over on his back. He lays with his head to the side and enjoys the sunshine on his belly. I just shake my head and laugh. Everyone always asks me if he's OK when he does that because he falls asleep and looks dead.
Reggie went to the softball game this past weekend and did very well. For the first few innings, Reggie walked around the track with me and he was occupied by all of the mole holes running from one hole to the next sniffing them. Suddenly a ball rolled by Reggie and he ran over and picked it up. He walked out to left field and lay down with the ball between his paws and watched the rest of the game with me. When it was over, we took Reggie up to the office and he lay down to cool off in the air-conditioning. He took a nap. Then Reggie came back with me and jumped up in the bed and took another nap. Reggie really enjoyed himself!
This week Reggie met Ozzie and did very well. He also played with Tegan and Brownie and had a lot of fun. While Reggie and Brownie were playing fetch, Reggie did something really funny. Brownie was standing sideways in Reggie's path to get the ball and just as we thought he was going to run into Brownie, he jumped right over her like she was a hurdle and continued on his way to get the ball. He brought it back like it was nothing. #ReggieLovesHisBall
This week Reggie played with Tegan and Brownie. Reggie went to the big yard and played fetch, running from one end of the field to the other and having a lot of fun. When he was tired of playing fetch, he played soccer with us, chasing everyone and the ball around. Then he trotted off and started rolling back and forth on his back and lay there with his head to the side and all his legs in the air like he was playing dead. What he was really doing was playing us because he stayed like that until we sat next to him to scratch and rub his belly while he looked at us like 'I knew this would work!!!'
Reggie played with Tegan and Brownie this week. Reggie and Brownie went to the softball field together and had lots of fun chasing the ball and Brownie chasing the frisbee. When we got to the field, Reggie saw geese off in the distance so we took him over towards the geese on his leash to scare them away. When we got close, he didn't bark or growl; Reggie went into a play bow and ran back and forth in an attempt at what I can only guess was to try and play with the geese. The geese calmly walked away on their own and weren't scared of Reggie at all. It was so funny.
This week Reggie played with Brownie and Tegan in the dog yard. He also had a play date with Brownie and they had a lot of fun playing with each other. They played until they were exhausted and shared bowls of water and food. It was funny to see the way they were sharing the water and food. One would drink water and the other ate from the bowl, then they stopped and looked at each other as if to say let's switch, and then they would trade bowls. Then they both went into a crate and took a nap together, which is always cute to see.
This week Reggie played with Brownie and Tegan. It was funny to see Reggie play bowing and chasing little Tegan around, but they had fun doing so, and myself and Tegan's handler just laughed. Brownie and Reggie played with the jolly balls together. Reggie figured out how to get me to rub his belly when we are lying on the bed watching TV. He lays on his side and puts his paw on my chest as if to say, 'Here I am.' Then, when he sees I am looking at him, he rolls onto his back, letting me know it's time to rub his belly. This has turned into his new nightly routine until he falls asleep.
Reggie and Brownie got to go to the big yard this week and played fetch, running from one end of the field to the other, until he decided he wanted to play soccer with us. Reggie chased us and the ball around until it was time to go back. He was very tired and happy with himself after that. The other night when Reggie went outside for his last bathroom break, he was walking around and all of a sudden he looked up in the sky and started barking at the moon. Myself and another handler just looked at each other and couldn't stop laughing.
This week Reggie played with Brownie at Brownie's house and they had a lot of fun chasing each other. He also went to the softball field and had fun playing fetch and chasing the soccer ball around. Reggie was also at the softball game and he was a big help in warm-ups because he would stand in the outfield and chase down any ball the infield or outfield missed and bring it back. When the game started, he stood behind the fence at home plate and watched the game. He went and chased down any foul ball or out-of-play ball and brought it back to us. It was great to see Reggie having so much fun.
This week Reggie and Brownie went to the football field together. They played fetch and chased the balls from one end of the field to the other. When they were done playing fetch, they played with each other and chased one another around. When they got tired, they lay down next to each other and took a break. When they got up, they decided to take a walk together and walked with Brownie's handler and myself around the track next to us until it was time to go inside.
Reggie played with Brownie outside and they had fun with each other. They chased the ball and played tug-of-war with each other. Reggie also got to go to the big yard and had fun playing soccer. He would run from one end of the field to the other chasing the ball until he was exhausted. He lay down and just watched us as he was wagging his tail once he was too tired to keep playing. Reggie is full of energy, loves to play, cuddle, watch TV, take naps with you, and give you tons of kisses.
This week Reggie went to the softball field to run around and play for the first time in about six months. He was so excited to see me pack his bag with all of his balls, his bowl, and water jug that he was running around the cell wagging his tail like crazy. When he saw my boss was here, he ran up to him and started to rub his head on his leg as if to tell him, 'What's up? Pet me please.' Then, he went to the field and chased the ball from one fence to the other fence as another guy and myself threw the ball to each end and the only break he took was to get a drink of water and then he went right back to playing fetch. It was good to see Reggie have so much fun and be so excited to go play. The best part was that he knew exactly how to get where we were going and when we got to the yard fence, he sat down and looked at us like OK open the gate now, please.
This week Reggie played with Brownie in the dog cage outside and they also played with each other off leash. They are funny to watch play and it's very cute to see them share toys, especially when they share bowls of water. One will take a drink, then back up and let the other one drink from the bowl. Brownie's handlers and myself both shake our heads and laugh when they do this.
This week Reggie went to the gym and had a lot of fun playing tug-of-war, chasing the balls, and chasing the soccer ball all over the place. He went from person to person with his rope. He would tire one person out and then move onto the next so by the time he was done, he was totally exhausted. It was great to see him have so much fun and playing with everybody.
Reggie and Brownie had fun chasing moles together this week. Even though they do their best and team up, they never actually manage to catch a single mole. They run back and forth from hole to hole. It's interesting to watch. Reggie is a very loving, energetic dog who loves to cuddle, watch TV, give you tons of kisses, and take naps with you.
This week Reggie played with Brownie and they had a lot of fun playing together. They played fetch and chased the balls until they were exhausted. Then they came inside and shared bowls of water together and took a nap in the crate. When they woke up, it was time for Brownie to go back to her home. Reggie loves playing in the snow. He jumps in it and all you can see is his head going up and down in the deep parts. He had a great time. He couldn't wait to jump around in the snow every time we went outside.
Reggie played with Brownie this week like always. We've been working on Reggie's muzzle training and it's going well. He had a ton of fun playing in the snow. All you could see was Reggie's head as he jumped around in the snow.
Reggie played with Brownie this week and they had a lot of fun chasing each other around. They shared a bowl of water and food before curling up to take a nap together on the bed. They went back to playing when they woke up. Reggie had fun outside in the snow too. He would catch the snowflakes with his mouth open.
This week Reggie played with Coco and Brownie. He played fetch with Brownie and they had a lot of fun chasing the ball around. Reggie did something funny. All of a sudden he started running in a big circle really fast and barking. Then he stopped and Reggie and Brownie were both barking and looking up into the air. We looked up to see a hawk sitting on top of the building. This lasted for a few minutes until the hawk had enough and flew off. Reggie and Brownie were proud of themselves. They were wagging their tails and barking until the hawk was no longer in sight.
This week Reggie played with Coco, Brownie, and Winston. Since it has been nice out, he has been able to play fetch with Brownie and they really enjoy themselves. They also had a play date and had fun together like always. Reggie played with Winston and did something funny. They were playing and all of a sudden, Reggie lay on his back with his paws in the air and started squirming back and forth. Winston just started running in circles around him. It was funny to see.
This week Reggie played with Winston, Coco, and Brownie. He had a lot of fun playing in the snow. He ran around chasing it and would stop to put his face in the snow and then shake his head around trying to catch it. He played fetch with Brownie outside and they had a play date where they had tons of fun together. Reggie loves to play, cuddle, take naps, and watch TV with you and give you tons of kisses.
Reggie has come a really long way with his training since he first arrived. It was impossible to get him to drop a ball or any kind of toy at first. Now he will drop whatever he has on command so you can take it. He also knows the 'leave it' command very well. If you tell him to 'leave it,' you can then place a ball in front of him and he won't touch it until you tell him it's okay to get.
Reggie played with Winston and Brownie this week. He and Brownie played tug-of-war outside with a big rope toy. When they came inside, they shared a bowl of food and water together. They jumped around and played for a few more minutes inside the cell before going into the crate together to take a nap, curled up against each other. It is so cute to see when they do this.
Reggie played with Coco, Winston, and Brownie this week. Brownie came over like usual and they played until they were tired. They played fetch outside and had a lot of fun chasing each other. The funniest thing Reggie did when I had him outside walking with me was how he noticed himself in the window. He started to bark and walked up to the window trying to play with himself by jumping up and touching the window. Reggie kept looking back at me when he wouldn't get a response from his reflection. He did this a couple of times and then let out a deep breath, looked back at the window, and then ran the other way, giving up.
Reggie played with Coco, Winston, and Brownie this week. He and Brownie played off leash like normal. Their favorite game is when Brownie's handler and I each get a ball and throw both balls for them. When they bring the balls back, sometimes Brownie will come to me and Reggie will go to Brownie's handler. Reggie loves to watch TV and cuddle when we are inside the cell.
Reggie played with Winston, Coco, and Brownie this week. He played fetch with Brownie and they chased the balls together. They came inside and played with each other for a while. They like to play tug-of-war together. After drinking a bowl of water, things died down and Reggie went into his crate to take a nap. A few minutes later, Brownie decided to go in and lay with Reggie. I went to get Brownie's handler to show him how Brownie was cuddling with Reggie. They were cuddled up together and it was cute to see.
Reggie did something really funny this week when I took him to work with me. The nurses came out of their office and called for Reggie. He stopped what he was doing and ran for the nurses. When he got there, his favorite nurse wasn't there so he stopped and looked at the ones who were. He jumped up and put his paws on the office door next to look in and see if his favorite nurse was in there and then went to look through both windows doing the same thing. Then he realized she wasn't there and looks at the other two ladies, back at the door, back at the ladies, and lets out this deep breath. Reggie runs back to what he was doing before he ran over to the nurses. It was as if he was saying, 'Sorry, I thought you were somebody else and I've gotta go!' We all just laughed.
Reggie and Pepper both went to work with me this week and had a lot of fun together. They chased the ball and squeaky bone around the gym until the basketball came out. Pepper ran to the side as Reggie chased the basketball around and just watched. At one point, Reggie pushed the basketball towards Pepper and stopped in front of him as if to say, 'Go ahead little man play with the ball.' Reggie started to chew on the basketball and Pepper put his front paws on top of the ball, just holding it there. It was funny to see. Reggie's favorite nurse came out to see him and gave him treats and was petting him. She tried to do the same with Pepper, but he wasn't having it. I think Pepper was trying to tell the nurse in his own way that he's fine and doesn't need any medical attention, I guess. Haha.
I took Reggie to work this week and he had fun trying to get the basketball while we played. We had two teams playing against each other and then there's Reggie, or should I say team Reggie because he is on his own team, with the main goal being to get the ball from us and chew it before we steal it back. He has a great time and likes to sleep by the bleachers when he gets tired.
Reggie had fun playing in the snow flurries this week. It was funny to see because he was trying to run away from the snow at first. Once he realized he could not out-run the snow, he started to run and jump up into the air to catch the snowflakes as they were falling. Reggie did this for a while and seemed to have a lot of fun doing so.
This week Reggie went to work with me and did something that we all thought was funny. Reggie was running around, playing with everything and everybody. When we started to play basketball, he was doing his usual knocking the ball out of your hand when you dribble, and chasing the ball all over the court. Then, he stopped, walked over to the bleachers, sat down, and he was looking at us. Reggie ran to my boss next and started to push his legs with his head out of the gym and towards the door. He ran down the steps then and sat in front of the door and would look back up the steps at us. Finally, he ran back into the gym to grab his kong ball, went back down the steps, dropped it, and sat down as if to tell us I'm done with basketball and just want to go outside to play fetch, you dummies! We all just looked at each other and laughed.
Reggie went to the football field with me and played fetch, running from one end zone to the other until he was exhausted. Then, he came to work with me and had fun running up and down the steps. He tried to chase the guys around who were playing basketball because he wanted to steal their ball. Reggie took a nap after that next to the desk where I was working. He's an energetic dog who loves to give you tons of kisses.
Reggie played with Pepper, Coco, Trevor, and Brownie. When he played fetch with Brownie, Reggie would get the ball, run back to us, then drop it so Brownie could pick it up and run away with the ball. Then, we would throw another ball and the same thing would happen. Then, we threw another ball and Reggie brought it back but before he dropped it, he stopped to look at Brownie and took off running in the other way as if to say, 'Not this time Brownie.' Brownie's handler and I just laughed because Brownie stood there looking at us like 'Reggie got me!!!'
Reggie played with Brownie, Coco, Trevor, and Pepper this week. He went to the soccer field and played fetch until he was exhausted. Reggie played with Pepper outside while Pepper's handler and I cut the grass. Reggie would chase a ball, barking, and Pepper would run behind him, barking like crazy. At one point, they both stopped and looked at each other as if to say, 'I don't know why we are barking, but it's fun, right?' Then they continued to chase each other without a care in the world, totally enjoying themselves.
Reggie and Brownie had another play date this week. They played for almost 2 hours and then went into Reggie's crate together and curled up to take a nap. It was so cute to see them sleeping together in the crate. Reggie went to work with me this week and ran from one end of the football field to the other until he was exhausted. Then, he came into the office area and took a nap under my boss's desk while my boss worked on his computer. Reggie has come a long way and continues to do so. He loves to lay with you, take naps, watch TV, and give you kisses.
This week Reggie played with Coco, Pepper, and of course, Brownie. Reggie has continued to play with Brownie in his house until they both get tired and share a bowl of water together before going right back to playing. I also get both dogs to sit and get treats together. They wait their turns for the treats. Reggie and Brownie play great together off leash and sometimes Reggie slows down to let Brownie get the ball.
This week Reggie played with Coco, Pepper, and especially Brownie. This week Brownie's handler brought Brownie over to have a play date with Reggie. They played very well and they had a lot of fun. I had both dogs sit and shake and they gave me their paws at the same time. It was cute to see. Reggie loves Brownie so much that when they play off leash, he even shares his tennis ball with her. Reggie is a great dog who loves to play, cuddle, and share his love with you.
We had Reggie and Pepper off leash playing outside this week since they get along well. We were throwing the ball for them. Since Pepper is smaller and faster than Reggie, he naturally beat Reggie to the ball. Then, Reggie figured out if he waited for Pepper to get the ball, he could run straight at Pepper as fast as he can and Pepper would drop the ball. The funny part was Pepper trying to run away at first and then he'd turn around and drop the ball. He'd look at Reggie then like he was thinking, 'Easy, you can have it.' It was so funny to see because Pepper is so little compared to Reggie. I looked at Pepper's handler and said, 'I think Reggie just bullied Pepper, huh?? Haha.'
This week Reggie played with Pepper, Coco, Denver, and Brownie. Reggie went to work with me again and played fetch since he couldn't play soccer. He also went to the offices and had fun exploring the whole place. Reggie really enjoyed getting treats from the nurses as well. He loves to go to work with me and enjoys all of the attention he gets. Reggie runs from person to person to be petted, get treats, and play. He of course gives tons of kisses. Reggie is a very sweet, loving, and energetic dog that needs a good home to share all of this with.
This week Reggie played with Brownie, Pepper, and Coco. He went to work with me again and did very well playing with the guys who have disabilities. He also behaved very well for the nurses. He let them pet him, feed him apple slices, play fetch, and of course he gave them tons of kisses. He did not get to play soccer because of the weather, but he still got to run around and play. Reggie seems to really like Coco. He loves to play with her and always does the funniest thing when he sees her. He lays on his back with his paws in the air and squirms back and forth. Then he throws his head from side to side while Coco looks at him like he is crazy. It is funny to see.
This week Reggie played with Pepper, Brownie, Denver, and Coco. When he was playing with Coco, they were chasing each other around having a ball. When Reggie stopped and play bowed, he rolled over onto his back and started squirming back and forth with his tongue hanging out. Then, Reggie started making a squealing noise like a pig. It was the funniest thing. The other handler and I couldn't stop laughing. Reggie also went to work with me and had fun playing with everybody. He was running around in the offices upstairs. Reggie needs a good home to share all of his love and energy with.
This week Reggie played with Pepper, Coco, and Brownie. He also went to work with me again and played very well with the guys who came to the big yard who have some mental disabilities. He lets them pet him, give him treats, plays fetch, and he even plays soccer with them. The only problem is that Reggie is a ball hog and won't pass the ball to his teammates. Typical Reggie with the ball! It's very funny to watch though.
This week Reggie played with Brownie, Coco, and Pepper. When he played with Coco, they were running back and forth chasing each other. Coco bulldozed him a couple of times and Reggie would fall over and look at us like what the heck just happened. Reggie went to work with me a few times which he loves because the gym is full of balls and people who play with him. He runs from person to person carrying medicine balls until it's time to leave. Reggie is like a kid at Christmas time when we go to the gym. It's great to watch and see him interact with everybody. Reggie is a very energetic, loving dog, who enjoys cuddling, watching TV, taking naps with you, and giving tons of kisses.
Reggie went to the big softball yard this week and enjoyed running around playing with a soccer ball. He also went up and down the stairs on his own and it was funny to watch. I had just brought Reggie in from outside and he stopped to let another handler pet him by the steps. He then looked at both of us and back at the steps. Reggie went straight up the stairs then, while we both cheered him on since he is usually scared of these steps because you can see through them. Now, he goes up the steps whenever he wants to and is all happy once he gets to the top.
This week we worked on dropping the rope when being told. Reggie is doing pretty well with this, but he will get better over time. Reggie met 2 people who work here and he did really good meeting them. They petted him and gave him treats. Reggie went to work with me one day and raced up and down steps chasing a soccer ball. He played with everyone he met and liked exploring the offices. He was having so much fun that he didn't want to leave when it was time to go. Reggie enjoys watching TV when we are in the cell. He also likes to hoard things like the TV remote, my shoes, and whatever else he can find. I finally realized that one of his favorite hiding places is in his crate under the blankets. The other day we almost ended up watching golf all morning because Reggie wouldn't show me where he put the remote. He keeps me on my toes.
Reggie did something funny this week when we went outside at night. He stopped dead in his tracks and looked at the full moon and started barking. He would stop every time the clouds covered the moon, but would start back up as soon as the moon came out again. It was comical to see. He played with Pepper and Brownie this week. Reggie loves to have his belly rubbed, cuddle, and give kisses. If you say, 'Reggie, you don't love me,' he will run up and give you tons of kisses. Reggie needs a good home to share all of his good qualities with.
Reggie had his first interaction with a grasshopper this week. We went outside at night so he could use the bathroom and Reggie found one while sniffing the grass. When the grasshopper jumped, it scared Reggie so much that he jumped straight up in the air on all fours. He tried to chase it then and use his paws to whack it, but he missed. It makes me laugh at the simple things that entertain Reggie.
This week Reggie went to the big yard where he met new people and did really well. He was able to play fetch in a much larger area. He let myself and other people throw the ball for him and would drop it on command. He ran back and forth the whole length of the football field a couple of times too. I am very proud of Reggie and all of the growth he has made since he's been here. Later in the week, Reggie and Pepper were playing like they usually do but Pepper must have been having a bad day. He snapped at Reggie which never happens and Reggie didn't react at all. He just play bowed and waited for Pepper to play again.
This week Reggie played with Pepper, Katy, and Brownie. Reggie and Brownie have become very good friends. They play together every chance they get until they are completely exhausted. Then, they lay next to each other face to face and lick each other until they catch their breath and go back to playing. It's so cute to see. He also worked on dropping the ball and backing up so I can get it. Reggie has become quite good at doing this and he has made great progress. He loves to cuddle, play, and take naps with you.
Reggie met Brownie this week and they played together. Reggie played a game with Pepper that we learned in training class where we work on recall skills. I got Pepper's handler to put Reggie and Pepper in a sit and stay position on separate sides with the ultimate goal being both dogs race towards us on the opposite end of the tier so the first dog to their handler wins. Well, I call Reggie and he calls Pepper, both of us waiting for bragging rights, only neither of us wins. Reggie runs for the door that leads outside because he wanted to go play fetch, which is what we were doing right before this, and Pepper runs up the stairs to a cell door where he had just gotten cookies a few minutes before. We both just looked at each other, shook our heads, and laughed because it turned out to be a game gone wrong.
Reggie has gotten so much better playing ball. I can now play fetch with one ball and not multiple balls. He will go get the ball, bring it back, drop it, and back up so you can get the ball to throw it again. This is a huge success. Reggie is still chasing the groundhogs and never seems to grow tired of this game.
Reggie and Pepper went mole and groundhog hunting this week together. The funniest part is that they don't realize that they have already chased the groundhog away and aren't going to catch it. Reggie has made enormous strides since entering the HOPE program. At times, Reggie is startled by things, but he quickly recovers from his fear, especially with a little reassurance from the humans around him. Reggie really just wants to hug and cuddle once he knows you. He needs a good home to share all of his great qualities with.
Reggie had a pretty good week. He played a lot with Katy and Pepper again. We played fetch with his favorite ball. He would play for hours if I let him. Reggie wears an easy walk harness and it's really helped with his loose leash walking. We still have his frog blanket... It just has some serious holes in it now.
Reggie played with Katy and Pepper this week. He even went to Pepper's house and got along well with him there. I worked on loose leash walking with Reggie and he's doing really well with dropping his ball with the use of a treat. Reggie got a blanket with frogs on it and he likes to attack them. He tears little holes in the center of the frogs. Reggie doesn't chew up or mess with any of blankets except this frog one. He's a really smart dog.
Reggie decided to walk up a few of the see-through stairs this week, which is a big deal for him. He was so scared of the stairs at first. Reggie worked on dropping the ball he was playing with by using a treat as a lure and he is doing very well exchanging the ball for a treat.
This week Reggie worked on loose leash walking and dropping his ball with a lure which is coming along well. He briefly met Rocky and played with him for a few seconds and they did well. Reggie played with Denver, Katy, and Pepper too. He spent a lot of time chasing Katy around and he did a funny jump & kicked his back legs out. It looked like he was trying a wrestling move on her.
This week Reggie went to a park with one of the HOPE volunteers. He was scared and hesitant at the new environment, but we are hopeful with time that he'll get better. He also passed his canine good citizenship test. I was really happy that Reggie passed. Besides Reggie's love of playing with balls, he really enjoys sleeping with you or rather trying to sleep on top of you so I hope he finds a home with someone who will let him cuddle.
Reggie worked on loose leash walking which is getting better this week. He enjoyed playing with Ayla, Denver, Katy, and Pepper. He got to leave the prison for a field trip and was a little nervous, but we hope the nervousness will go away after he's been on a few trips outside of the gates.
This week Reggie worked on leaving the ball and dropping the ball while playing fetch. This weekend he went out back and played with Pepper off leash. They had a great time together. They're partners in crime when it comes to chasing the moles.
Reggie overcame a big hurdle this week by walking up six steps. He's scared of the stairs here so it was very surprising that he did six at one time. He's still chasing the moles which is part of his everyday routine now. Reggie is starting to grasp the concept of only being able to play with one ball at a time because he would play with multiple balls at once if he could. Reggie is a very loving dog who needs a good home.
This week Reggie and I worked on loose leashing walking which is getting better. He and Pepper had a great time digging holes and then putting their faces in the holes searching for moles. One of them would put their face in the hole and the other one would chase the mole when it ran out of the hole and into another hole. They worked as a great team trying to catch the moles but never caught one, at least not yet. It was funny to watch Reggie and little Pepper trying to catch them.
Reggie and I worked a lot this week on 'leave it,' especially with the ball. He is getting a lot better and shows improvement as the days go by. Reggie enjoys playing with all of the dogs. He just needs a good home with someone who would love to cuddle with him.
Reggie enjoyed chasing balls around with Katy this week. They play very well together. Reggie played fetch off leash and came back with the ball every time without any problems. He played until he was exhausted and would have kept going if I let him. Reggie did something very funny when I was walking him the other day. He started trying to catch gnats in his mouth, chasing them everywhere he saw them.
Reggie had his first interaction with a groundhog here this week. When he first saw it, he was startled initially and then decided to run to one of the many holes to try and dig the hole deeper to see where it went. Reggie isn't a big fan of food. He's much easier to train if you use a ball as the reward instead of treats. Reggie will always choose a ball over food. His loose leash walking is getting better and we'll continue to keep working on it.
Reggie practiced loose leash walking next to Lance this past week. We still need to work on the pulling a bit. We also worked on 'watch,' 'touch,' 'sit,' 'down,' 'down stay,' 'sit stay,' and 'recall from a distance.' Reggie enjoys playing with Ayla, Katy, Lance, and Denver. He loves to cuddle and needs a good home.
This week Reggie played with Pepper, Ayla, Denver, and Katy. He went to the big dog yard and played fetch and of course soccer with his favorite ball. He never gets tired playing with it and makes the funniest sounds trying to get the ball in his mouth because it's so large and he can't. We worked on 'sit,' 'stay,' 'down,' 'touch,' 'paw,' and 'leave it.' Reggie is a very energetic, loving dog who needs a caring home to share his love with and cuddle up next to.
Reggie played with Denver, Ayla, and Katy this week. He chased around his favorite giant ball for hours. We worked on 'sit,' 'stay,' 'touch,' and 'down.' He loves getting belly rubs and will roll over on his back for one. Reggie likes to curl up next to you and fall asleep.
Reggie went to the dog yard and played with Ayla and Katy a lot this week. Reggie's favorite thing to do is play with a giant ball and chase it around. He will play with it for hours if you let him, and completely entertains himself. We worked on 'sit,' 'touch,' 'shake,' and 'off.' He is a very energetic, loving dog.
This week Reggie spent a lot of time getting used to his new surroundings. He met and played with Ayla and Katy, and seems to be doing very well with the other dogs. He loves to play with his squeaky toys and chew bones. Reggie is a very sweet and loving dog who loves to show affection. He will curl up and lay his head on your legs when he goes to sleep. Reggie also started to learn 'sit' and 'stay.' He's a smart dog. All Reggie needs is a loving and affectionate home to share his love with.
