Zeke

1999-2007

UPDATE 9-13-07
Zeke was loved by everyone who ever knew him.  He was a friend to everyone he met and always had a wagging tail to make the day a little better.  Earlier this week, his inmate handlers noticed a change in Zeke and quickly shared their concerns with staff.  On Thursday, Zeke succumbed to a an extremely aggressive form of pancreatic cancer and a tumor on his heart.  Zeke was rescued by Canine Rescue of Central PA after being surrendered after a divorce. He spent nearly two years in foster care waiting for a home.  And, it was the loving people who've cared for him through that time that stroked his head while he crossed the bridge.  Zeke had a wonderful time at the jail.  He was love dearly by the inmates and staff alike.  In the end, his rescue was so grateful to the staff and handlers involved with the HOPE Program for giving Zeke what none of us were ever able to find for him…a family and a home.

"Now run little boys, run little girls, run like the wind, over the moon, around the stars and wait for us all at the Rainbow Bridge."

Week 3
Zeke continues to come out of his shell more and more with each passing week.  He is truly adored by everyone at the prison and everyone always looks forward t getting the chance to pat him and say hello.  Zeke knows the value of a good nap, but also loves to play and learn new tricks.  All he needs now is a home of his very own.  He has waited patiently for such a very long time, he truly deserves to get started on the rest of his life as soon as possible!

Week 2
Zeke is one of the most mellow and sweet dogs we have ever had the pleasure to know.  He is having so much fun earning new tricks and his handlers are keeping him on his toes with new lessons every day.  You can see it in his eyes how much he enjoys learning new things.  He is just as friendly as can be with everyone he meets and you couldn't ask for a more loving companion.  He's ajoy to be around!

Week 1
It won't be long before people are lined up to adopt this wonderful boy!  He spent his first few days observing everything going on around him and then somewhere around day four, he relaxed and started to play.  He greets everyone he meets with the manners of an elegant gentleman.  He's just as sweet as they come and we're so lucky to have him in our program.  Zeke is one of those dogs that you know is special the minute you meet him.  His eyes hold years of stories and they barely hide the heartbreak of losing his first home.  But, the healing has begun, and now all he needs is a new family to call his own.  There's no doubt in anyone's mind that this boy will bring many years of joy to whoever opens their heart to him.
