Week 10 & 11
Well, we're a bit behind on our weekly updates but rest assured that hasn't stopped Sully from being a star in the HOPE Program.  He is loving friend to each of the dogs in the program and has learned so much since he started.  We're really hoping that the New Year will bring a fresh, new start for Sully.  He so very much deserves it!!!

Week 9
Sully discovered his "helper" role this week and his natural talent for sorting laundry!  While his handler was getting his dirty clothes ready to send to the laundry, Sully decided he should help.  One by one, he picked up each sock and brought it to the bag that his handler was holding and continued this process until all of the socks and shirts had been added to the bag.  When he was finished, he curled up on his pillow for a well deserved nap!!

Week 8
Sully had a great time on his visit to Borders Books and Music on Sunday!  He was the perfect gentleman whether he was snuggling with kids or charming the adults.  He is truly a remarkable dog who deserves a family who is just as wonderful as he is!!

Week 7
Sully had another fun week.  Anyone would be lucky to have this sweetheart as part of their family.  Abby has become his favorite playmate.  They play chase around the dog yard for hours until they're both completely played out!!  He is a wonderful companion and loves to take walks with his handlers.  He has a deep rooted love for squeaky toys and will make you laugh when he bas them around like a cat and pounces on them to make them squeak!  This boy is one in a million and deserves a home that is as fantastic as he is.  If you think Sully might be a good match for you, please stop out and meet him next Sunday, December 3rd from 11-2 at Borders in Camp Hill.  Hope to see you there!

Week 6
Sully has had a ball this week!  We learned that he loves to be brushed and takes his medicine like a gentleman.  He loves to play with the other pups, but more than anything loves to be with his handlers.  Sully loves to be the center of attention.  In fact, Sully will have a whole afternoon of being the center of attention when he has his special day at Borders in Camp Hill next weekend.  On Sunday, December 3rd from 11 AM - 2 PM, Sully will be at the store to greet his public and hopefully find a love connection.  He is still waiting for just the right home to come along for him.  Paws crossed....

Week 5
Sully had a great week.  He even sat politely while the officers were in his cell doing some routine work.  He is very friendly and loves to be snuggled.  He's doing incredibly well with his housebreaking/crate training and his training is coming along nicely.  His list of tricks, commands and skills grows by the week because he is so smart and loves to learn and please!  Wouldn't you just love to meet this boy!?!?!?

Week 4
Sully loves his toys.  He got a new squeaky ghost toy this week for Halloween and it made a really loud sound.  He loved it and he and his handlers played with it for hours.  They played with it in the yard, they played with it in the cell, Sully played with it in his crate and on and on it went.  Until the poor little ghost was no more.  The rope toy that was attached to it survived though and Sully has been playing with it ever since.  He had a ball meeting the new kid, Snowy, this week.  Sully is always up for a game and provides endless entertainment for everyone in the program!

Week 3
Sully is such a funny boy.  This week he succeeded in making everyone on the block laugh at least twenty times!!  He loves his Buster Cube, a special toy designed for the doggie genius.  He will play with it for hours until he gets every last treat of it.  He likes to "sing" during training class, but he's getting much better at following the directions of his handlers.  He is doing better with his crate training and lets his handler know it's "potty time" by walking over to the door and giving him a little whine.  Way to go Sully!!!

Week 2
Sully's homework for this week is to get a little crazy.  Sully loves to have a routine, but we all know that life often gets in the way of a perfect schedule.  Therefore, it's important that Sully be able to cope with the changes that come along with living in a regular home.  His handlers will start by leaving him at odd times during the day, but just for a minute or two.  As Sully gets more and more comfortable, they'll continue to change up his daily schedule until he can easily manage whatever comes his way.  Sully is so smart, we're all convinced this will take him no time at all.  Stay tuned to see how he does!!

Week 1
Sully had a terrific first week.  His handlers report that he loves to play with the other dogs, especially Chip, and that he is already learning a bunch of new tricks.  Tricks are a big part of the training here at the prison.  They stimulate the dogs mentally and physically and cultivate their ability to focus on a task, respond quickly to the handler and follow directions with and without distractions.  Sully had a trick of his own this week when he was sniffing around the dog yard.  The next thing his handler saw was Sully slurping a worm right out of the ground.  They say he also really likes the dog treats that come in a bag.  This was just a one-time "specialty" treat!  His favorite toy is the Buster Cube.  It's a puzzle cube for dogs that is used with treats or dog food.  Sully works at it for hours trying to get every last bit out of the different compartments.  We have a feeling we're going to have a lot of fun getting to know this funny boy!
