Week 5
This was Smokey's big week! He polished all of his best tricks and
skills and then headed off to his new home to get started on his new life.

Week 4
Smokey's manners hit an all time high point this week. He was able to
walk through crowds without pulling or jumping up on anyone, he has learned
that petting eventually stops and that is alright because it always starts
again sooner or later, and he has also learned that when strangers come to
his cell to visit he can play with them the same way he plays with his
friends. What a great week. Keep up the great work, Smokey!

Week 3
Smokey is ticklish! While his handlers were grooming him this week,
they kept running into "tickle spots" that would just make Smokey all
wiggly. He absolutely did not care for the Halty collar that we tested
out on him, but the harness that we tried next seems to be just the right
fit for him. He's already doing much better walking on his leash and
Smokey is so smart that we know he'll just keep improving with each passing
week.

Week 2
Smokey had another great week of learning new things. He learned to
roll over this week with just the wave of his handler's hand! He also
learned that if you roll over when you're in the cell, 99% of time you get a
bellyrub. What a discovery! His handlers learned about canine
massage this week and tested it out on Smokey. Smokey loved it!
He is getting used to it more and more with each session and his handlers
report that it really relaxes him! Way to go, Smokey!

Week 1
Smokey's handlers can't get over how smart he is. He has learned his
basic commands so quickly and is extremely responsive and eager to please.
He needs some practice at learning how to walk nicely on a leash so that
will be the main focus for his handlers over the next few weeks. All
in all, Smokey is off to a tremendous start and we can't wait to see all
he'll learn while he's with us!
