Congratulations, Sammy!!! Our sweet, lovable boy has found a home of
his very own. He'll be granted "parole" next week and will get started
on living a wonderful life with a family who will love as much as we do!!

Week 6
Well, Sammy continues to be a crowd favorite. He is so sweet and
gentle and just loves to be around people. He has become quite a
speedy boy too. He is now the fastest of his canine companions.
His handlers say that the only way the other dogs can keep up is to nip his
tail when they can get close enough (which isn't too often). Sammy
takes it all in stride and usually just flops down for some romp time in the
grass. He is a fantastic boy!!!

Week 5
Sammy has mastered the leash!!!! This was a big step for him since he
hadn't really ever been walked before coming to the prison. What a
terrific accomplishment in just a month! In addition to that, Sammy is
just as sweet as they come. If you are looking for a wonderful
companion who likes to go for walks, play a little with toys, snuggle for
hours while you scratch his back or rub his belly, then this is the boy for
you. Sammy has yet to meet anyone that he hasn't liked. He is
extremely well mannered. He would be a natural at therapy work and we
would be happy to help his new family start him in that direction.
Sammy is an all around fantastic dog who will love you until the end of his
days. He just needs a loving person, couple or family to take the leap
and bring him into their home. Does he sound like the right boy for

Week 4
Well, Big Sammy has had another fun week of training and playing with his
friends. He is such a doll! We learned this week that cheese is
the magic treat for Sammy. He becomes a training class genius whenever
he gets the scent of cheese in someone's hand. He's also quite a
snuggler. He loves to lean on you while you pet him and flop down in
your lap if you happen to be sitting. What a joy this boy is!!

Week 3
Sammy is still doing great, but has had a sad week. The family who
decided to adopt him found another dog and that means that Sammy is once
again hoping for his chance at a forever home. Everyone has fallen in
love with Sammy and he would thrive just about anywhere. He loves all
people and has yet to meet a dog he doesn't like. He roughhouses with
the his doggie friends and then snuggles like a pro with his handlers.
He is calm and sweet with a face that just makes you want to hug him.
Sammy has really taken to life indoors and can't wait to become someone's
new best friend.

Week 2
Sammy has become very popular in his short time at the prison. He is
easy going and gets along with everyone! The officers and staff think
he is terrific and his inmate handlers just love him to pieces. He has
been working very hard on his leash manners and, although he still has some
work to do, he is coming along very well. He is a great buddy to all
of the other dogs in the program and we are very proud of him!

Week 1
Sammy is off to a terrific start. He is already walking nicely on a
leash and loves to play with the other dogs. His handlers have given
him the nickname "Big Sam" and even made him a sign for his crate. He
is working hard on the new commands and having a ball with all of the new
toys and attention from the handlers in the program. He has become a
fast favorite of both the staff and the inmates.

UPDATE
Well, Sammy has had a terrific start to his time in the HOPE Program.
His handlers report that after just three days, Sammy has already learned
the potty routine. He is getting along wonderfully with both Jada and
Chip and everyone has just fallen in love with him. He is so friendly
and can't get enough of all of the attention he is now receiving. It's
a whole new world for Sammy and we're thrilled to see him flourishing!!
