ADOPTED!!
Week 10
Roscoe loves to watch things. This week he met, from a distance, a
groundhog and a duck. He doesn't go bonkers like the other dogs.
He just likes to sit with his handler and watch them. He is such a fun
kid and the staff and inmates adore him. He has truly won over
everyone around him. He still thinks that Annie is top notch. The two
of them are such good friends and we hope they'll have some play dates
together after they're adopted. They play together, train together and
even nap together!
Week 9
Roscoe has the green light from the trainer! He is now officially
ready to be adopted. Now, we just need to find that terrific match who
will give him the love and stability he deserves. He has come so far
and we've all been amazed by his progress. It's time for this little
boy to get a home of his own.
Week 8
Well, Roscoe has done his job extremely well. He has really helped
River start to come out of his shell and learn the joys of playing with
other dogs. Roscoe has become such a beloved part of the HOPE family.
Everyone at the prison just adores him and they find new excuses every week
to try to keep him around just a little longer. It's nothing out of
the ordinary to see one of the handlers coming down the hall holding Roscoe
in his arms. And, Roscoe just soaks up all of the attention, loving
every minute of it!
Week 7
Roscoe had another positive week! He continues to impress everyone
with how much he is willing to learn. He has also started something
new this week...SINGING! Every so often, Roscoe will look up at you
and just break into doggie serenade will you break into hysterics at the
cuteness of it all! He also has a big, new job this week. He
will be helping River begin to learn to play with other dogs without fear.
Roscoe will be the first to start helping River because Roscoe is so laid
back and easy to get along with. What a boy this Roscoe has
become. We are all so proud of him!!
Week 6
Roscoe's circle of comfort keeps growing week after week. He has
really begun to relinquish control to his handlers and become a sweet,
lovable member of the HOPE team. He adores affection of all sorts,
from tummy rubs to ear scratches to being picked up and snuggled. He
gets along fantastically well with all of the other dogs. In fact, his
buddy Annie thought so highly of him this week that she decided to take him
for a walk. Roscoe was playing in his cell with his leash still
attached and Annie came over to join in the fun. Then, she picked up
his leash in her mouth and took him for a walk around the cell block with
Roscoe running along behind her! What a pair!!
Week 5
Roscoe and Annie are becoming the best of friends. They train together
and play together and just seem to love each other's company. Roscoe
is like a learning sponge, he keeps taking everything in and trying his
hardest to keep improving week to week. This week, he learned a lesson
of a different sort...flies taste yucky!! He caught one just the other
day and spit it right back out again. This little guy has so much to
learn and he's taking it all in stride. He'll make someone very happy
when he graduates and heads on to his new life. Does he sound like the
right match for you?
Week 4
Roscoe just keeps moving forward and impressing all of us with his ability
to adapt and learn new ways of behaving. This week he is working
really hard on understanding that rules are rules no matter which of his
handlers happens to be doling them out. Roscoe has come so far in such
a short time and we're all really proud of him. That adorable little
face will make some lucky person very happy, especially now that it is
accompanied by very good manners. Are you interested in adding this
little bundle of spunk to your family?
Week 3
Roscoe is quickly winning over his new friends at the jail. This week,
he feel head over heels for one of the ladies on staff at the prison.
She stopped by the doggie yard for a visit and Roscoe immediately started
doing tricks, giving her kisses and shaking paws with her. He's doing
very well with the other dogs and he loves toys of all sorts. Part of
his homework this week was to get more comfortable being handled by lots of
different people, not just his usual handler. Boy, did he do
well...gold stars across the board! Way to go Roscoe! Keep up
the good work.
Week 2
Well, Roscoe had a big week! He is now completely housetrained,
answers to his name, has begun to learn tricks and is coming out of his
shell with both the people around him and the other dogs. He loves to play
with Phoenix and has chosen some favorite toys that he likes to play fetch
with. He has his very own team of inmate handlers working with him to
help him learn the joys of giving up a treasure without throwing a temper
tantrum. He's already learning that something good always happens when
he follows directions and at this rate he'll be the star of the class in no
time!
Week 1
Roscoe's first week in the HOPE Program was full of new things for him to
experience. He has been working very hard on learning the potty
routine and we're happy to say he has been accident free for seven days!!
Way to go, Roscoe! He's also been learning that petting can be fun.
He's been making friends left and right and has even started to approach
people on his own which is very, very brave. Keep an eye on this boy,
he's a keeper!
UPDATE
Roscoe started his HOPE adventure this week and is already getting good
marks from his handler. He has a lot of new things he'll need to
learn, but he's already made lots of doggie friends and a few human ones
too! Roscoe is available for adoption
through
Homeward Bound Animal Rescue.
