ADOPTED!!!

UPDATE
Lacy headed home to start a new life with her new family this week.  She has already made friends with the resident cat and they're teaming up to outsmart their human companions.  Good luck, Lacy!!

Week 12
Lacy spent the last week brushing up on all her skills.  She has a few families interested in adopting her and she wants to be top notch for them!  She practiced all of her basic obedience skills and even played on the agility course a bit.  She has a visit to the vet scheduled for next week to check up on some things and we know they'll all love her just as much as we do.  She's quite a charmer!  We're all keeping our paws and fingers crossed that this will be Lacy's lucky week!

Week 11
Lacy has a charm that's hard to resist.  Her handler learned that this week after realizing just how tightly she had wrapped him around her little paw!  Lacy rediscovered her love of the game fetch this week!  She likes it best when she gets to choose the red, fuzzy bone from her stash of toys and take it outside with her.  She's also rediscovered the joys of being part of the pack again.  She now gets along with all of the other dogs, except for Oliver.  His size just scares the daylights out of her even though he's never been anything but a perfect gentleman.  She adores the Eskie Brigade and has developed quite a little friendship with Tina as well.  This little girl has come a very long way and we just couldn't be prouder of her.  Way to go, Lacy!

Week 10
Still no home for beautiful Lacy.  She's not letting it get her down though.  She is keeping up with her studies, enjoying the unseasonably warm temperatures with her canine companions and continuing to wrap her handler around her small paws.  He's smitten and so are we.  We can't get over the fact that she hasn't been snatched up yet.  She has a wonderful temperament and would be an excellent choice for anyone wishing to do therapy work, reading programs with school children or social visits to just about anywhere!  She's a jack of almost all trades and as soon as some dear soul is able to look past her graying whiskers and see the lovable creature that we see every day we know they'll never look back.  She'll make a wonderful companion and dear friend to someone and we hope that someone is reading her journal this week!

Week 9
Lacy is making great strides.  She has befriended all of the Eskies, even Sadie!!  Sadie used to bark constantly at Lacy which annoyed her to no end, but the two have found some common ground and are enjoying each other's company.  Lacy continues to do extremely well with her training and is much adored by everyone who has the good fortune to cross paths with her.  She always has a a wagging tail to start the day and loves to share her joy for life with everyone who passes by.  Now it's time for someone to return some of that joy and open their home to her so that she can get started on the rest of her life.

Week 8
Two months and still no special someone for beautiful Lacy.  She's well behaved, gentle in nature, sweet as they come and a beautiful girl but still she waits.  Lacy would love a home with people to love and snuggle, cats for companion and lots of lap time.  She is a dear soul who has gotten the short end of the stick in just about every aspect of her life.  Now she has all of her paws crossed that someone will read about her here and decide that she is just the perfect match.  Knowing Lacy, it's hard to imagine why she doesn't have a long list of potential adopters.  Maybe it's her age, but we think that an older, mellow dog is just a fabulous companion.  Maybe it's her graying whiskers, but we think those just add a little beauty.  Maybe her match just hasn't seen her yet.  Maybe today!!

Week 7
Lacy is beautiful in every way you can think of.  She is just a doll with people, always willing to offer a wagging tail and some happy, doggie kisses.  She loves to play with her handler and continues to learn the joys of playing with the other dogs.  Some days, she gets along great with all of her canine pals.  Other days, when the scariness of her past creeps in, she struggles in her canine relations.  But, the great news is that she is always responsive to her handler and she gets over the bumps and starts fresh every day.  She is an extremely loving dog and so deserves a home of her own where someone will love and appreciate her.  She adores cats and is wonderfully behaved around them so if you're looking to add a canine friend to your feline pack...Lacy is definitely one to watch!

Week 6
Lacy received straight A's from her handler this week!  She still has some lessons to learn, but she has made great progress.  She is an absolute love with all people, but other dogs can be a little bit of a challenge to her sometimes.  But, the good news is that she and her handler have come to an understanding about good canine manners and she's well on her way to being a good pack member.  She walks really well on her leash and has even learned a few new tricks this week.  Who says you can't teach an older dog new tricks??

Week 5
Five weeks and still not one email about Lacy!  It must be the grey whiskers that we find so adorable or the number nine.  Of course, no one has ever told Lacy that she's an "older dog."  She romps and plays with all of the other pups.  Then, like any lady, she settles in for a nice afternoon nap before dinner.  She's a wonderful girl with lots of love to give.  She is laid back, excellent with cats, good with other dogs and simply adores people of all ages!  We really hope that there is a person or family out there who will look past the numbers and the whiskers and see the beautiful gem that is Lacy!

Week 4
Lacy is just a doll.  She is as friendly as any dog we've ever had the pleasure to know and her beagle nature shines through in her exploration of every inch of the cell block.  She loves to meet new people and never misses an opportunity for a head scratch or an ear rub.  She's just a truly, nice dog and so deserving of a home to call her own.

Week 3
Lacy had another fun week.  She's not too sure how she feels about the other dogs yet, but there's no question that she adores people of all sorts.  She never misses an opportunity to socialize with the staff or passing inmates.  She's very gentle and polite and would make an excellent therapy dog where she could put all of those fabulous traits to good use.  She's walking very well on the leash now and also making good strides with the rest of her training.  She's a sweetheart of a girl and just the right match for anyone seeking a mature, kind-hearted, loyal companion.

Week 2
Lacy is beginning to develop a firm grasp on all of her obedience skills.  She's very interested in learning and always has an adorable, quizzical face when she's trying to figure out something new.  Her handler reports that she is very well mannered in the cell and absolutely loves her crate.  He leaves the door open for her so that she can go in whenever she pleases for a little quiet time or an afternoon snooze.

Week 1
Lacy has fit right in to our little pack of prison pups.  She's getting along with the other dogs and making lots of new people friends.  She and her handler have been getting to know each other and having a great time doing so.  Lacy is always fun to be around and gets along with everyone.  She had her first training class this week and did an excellent job relearning her basic skills.  She's going to be a favorite...we can tell already!

UPDATE
Lacy will be getting started on August 29th.  She is sure to be a favorite in the program with that adorable face and sweet personality.  She's a nine year old Beagle mix with lots of love to give.  Lacy is available for adoption through Starfish to the Sea Animal Rescue.  We can't wait for her to get started!!
