Week 4
Kobi Kuddles is doing wonderfully, especially now that he has been
officially adopted, and is waiting for his parole date! A member of the
prison staff decided that Kobi was just for her, so his handler has been
working with the "nice lady who is giving Kobi a forever home. She is going
to rename him Toby, so I have started to call him that. She is not
interested in a trick dog, just a calm, quiet house pet. That's Kobi, or
Toby, I mean! His new 'mom' is more interested in the basics - sit, stay and
come - so I have been working on making those three commands perfect for
her. The wait and fetch commands are just a bonus. Everything else is going
fine. Toby is ready for his new couch and his new life!" Congratulations
Kobi/Toby!

Week
3
It's week 2-1/2 for Kobi in the program, and his handler has nothing but
good things to say about him! "He is calm and quiet. He plays a little with
his squeaky toy and loves his rawhide." As his handler reported last week,
Kobi also will play fetch when the ball is just to his liking! Kobi is quite
content to watch the other dogs play. Mind you, he gets along with all of
his canine buddies...he would just rather be a spectator than a participant
in their doggie antics. Kobi comes to his handler when he calls to him, but
most of the time, he's usually right by his handler's side. He's doing well
with his sit, stay and wait commands "most of the time" during training
sessions. "When he gets tired or bored, he just lays down. Kobi isn't much
of a 'trick' dog. He is an adorable house pet because he's not big on being
outdoors." In fact, this pup is happiest being Kobi Kuddles as he sits with
his handler and watches television with him. "He is low maintenance. There
are no problems with Kobi." Would you be willing to be laid-back Kobi
Kuddles' forever family? He and his handler HOPE so!

Week 2
Each of our dogs go into the prison with the equivalent of an IEP in the
school system. Although it's still early, Kobi's handler says that he wishes
he could say that he will "fix" Kobi's issues, but he isn't showing any of
the behaviors that brought him into the program. "He could use a little
training on some commands, maybe learn a few tricks, but it's all minor."
Kobi's handler has even tried to bring out his negative behaviors. "The only
response I get is he looks at me like I'm crazy. Kobi is not a real playful
dog. He will run after the ball a few times and bring it back if it's not
too heavy or big. He plays tag with the other dogs for a minute or two, and
then that's it. He is a quiet, loveable inside dog. Let's see how week two
goes, but all is well with Kobi Kuddles."

Week 1
Kobi's handler says that he welcomed him to the "Big House" last Sunday.
Although they are still in their "honeymoon period," Kobi's handler says
that already he has learned that Kobi is a really friendly pup. "He loves to
say 'Hi" to eveyone, and isn't a bit shy." Kobi also met all of the other
dogs in the program and is having fun becoming a part of the pack. Our
newbie knows his "sit" and "no" commands somewhat and will "watch me" if his
handler has a treat or his favorite chew. "He loves rawhide...he doesn't
really chew a lot, he just carries it around, like a good bird dog." After
just a few short days, his handler has given him a nickname...Kobi Kuddles!
"I have been calling him that because he tries to get under the covers with
me at night. I tell him 'no' and he goes to his crate with no problems. So
far, all is well. Kobi has plenty of energy and loves chasing things. He
doesn't always bring them back to me, but we're working on it!" Listen to
your handler, Kobi Kuddles! We know there is a forever home waiting for you!
