Week 6
India has made some great progress since arriving at the prison.  Just yesterday, she was comfortable and relaxed with all of the other dogs during our regular training class.  She's now heading back to her foster home to await a home and family of her very own.   Stay tuned for updates from her foster home...

Week 5
India made some great strides this week.  Although she probably would prefer to live as the queen of her castle, she's learning to tolerate the other dogs in her pack.  She even tried to take Bella for a walk in the doggie yard...by the leash!  She's coming along really well with her interactions with other dogs.  As far as people go...she can't get enough!  She adores people of all sorts and is a gentle and sweet soul that you just can't help but fall in love with.  She really likes to go for rides in the car and is a perfectly lovely passenger.  She enjoys meeting new people and always has the nicest of manners when greeting them.  One look in those big, beautiful brown eyes and she'll steal your heart!

Week 4
India is trying her best to do well with the other dogs, but it still troubles her.  She's such a sweet girl and it's entirely possible that she would just prefer to spend the rest of her days with just human companions.  She absolutely adores people and will nuzzle up to you with a friendly lean any chance she gets.   She likes to go for walks and is an excellent passenger in the car.  She would make such a wonderful friend to someone who is looking for a beautiful, regal girl to make their world complete!!

Week 3
India has shown some real improvement this week.  She is learning to let go of her need to be the boss at all times.  There's a lot of trust that needs to built yet in order for her to truly feel comfortable as part of the pack, but we think she's headed in the right direction.  She is a beautiful girl and she deserves so much better than what she's had.  India took a trip to the vet this week and was an absolute angel.  Turns out...she's in great shape, terrific hips, just a muscle strain that was giving her some trouble.  She loved the tech and thought the vet was just wonderful.  She couldn't have been more well behaved and we were so proud of how brave she was with all of the new people she met.  India is such a special girl and she truly deserves to be with someone who will love her as much as all of us do.  From her rescue friends to the inmates to the us, India holds a very special place in all of our hearts.  Maybe she'll win yours too!

Week 2
India had a rough week...TWO thunderstorms!!  Her handler says that she hasn't once tried to hop on the bed since she arrived, but that all changed with the first crack of thunder.  She hopped right up and then velcro-ed herself to him for the rest of the night.  Other than that, she's beginning to find her way.  She enjoys being out in the dog yard.  She was sad to say goodbye to her pal Danner, but comforted by the fact the her turn will come.

Week 1
India's first week was filled with new things.  She explored the doggie yard and made friends quickly with Sarge.  But, her new favorite playmate is Danner.  The two of them head out together early in the morning for a romp around the yard and it's great to see each of them so happy!  India is working hard this week on visiting with strangers.  There is sure to be lots of cheese and treats to help build her confidence and who wouldn't like training like that?!?!

UPDATE
India is heading into the big house this Thursday, April 3rd.  We can't wait for her to get started.  She's a gorgeous, seven year old Golden Retriever mix.  We are so excited to help her get a fresh start.  Keep your eye on this girl!  India is available for adoption through Pets Come First.
