Week 11
Harley continues to make improvements, although he's still a shy boy at
times. That having been said, he bravely accepted some pets and treats from
new people this week! Of course, his new fondness for treats also makes it
easier for his handler to teach him a new trick or two. His handler says
that this pup is doing "very well." His pulling while on leash is improving,
his "down-stay" while out in the block is improving and his shyness is
improving too. Could this handsome boy's chance of being in a forever family
alsobe improving? Paws crossed!

Week 10
Harley has really developed quite a fondness for his fellow doggie tiermates.
He is a gentleman in every sense of the word and is favorite choice
when it comes to playtime. The other dogs really seem to take to him,
almost like an older brother. On the flip side, his doggie friends
have taught him a thing or too about being brave in the midst of larger
groups of people and also the benefits of training for treats. Harley
wasn't too keen on training when he first arrived, but he soon learned that
with good behavior comes lots of yummy treats. He figured that trick
out pretty quickly!
Harley loves his handlers and is looking forward to being given the green
light for parole. He has worked so hard and come such a long way since
starting the program. We couldn't be prouder of him!

Week 9
Harley is starting to turn a corner with his shyness! He still gets a little
spooked out on the block sometimes, but he is calming down faster, and
accepting more pets and treats from his tier-mates! Harley also takes
direction from his less-than-shy doggie friends to help him through his
fears. His handler reports that Harley’s recalls are improving so much that
he will now come to him from across the other side of the doggie yard!
Although this fur-baby still has some things to learn, his improvements in
just a few short weeks make his handler proud. We’re proud of your
accomplishments too, Harley! We know that there is a family out there to
work with you and love you as much as your handler and we do!
An additional note: One of Harley’s handlers received his own parole this
week. All of us in the HOPE program would like to thank him for his work and
dedication in helping the dogs entrusted to him to become adoptable pets.

Week 8
Harley is quite a mentor to the other dogs when it comes to doggie manners.
All of the other dogs adore him and the feeling is mutual. He gets
along great with absolutely everyone and never overdoes it.
Harley is trying his best at obedience class, but some days are better than
others. He does best when he's really focused, but he definitely likes
to learn on his own terms. But, once he gets started he's a force to
be reckoned with. He loves to please his handlers and gets so excited
when they tell him he does a good job. This boy will make a great
match for someone who loves to be active and will continue to help him be
his very best.

Week 7
Harley's handlers had such kind words for him this week. They say that
he has come such a long way since he started his program. He seems to
have really turned a corner with his obedience skills and has developed a
real love of learning. Harley is happiest when he has something to do
and something to focus on. This boy loves having a job to do.
His handlers have finally some treats that he likes and he's more than happy
to work for them. They say that he won't even try to take the treat
until they've told him that he's done a good job. Harley is so smart
he even knows when he deserves a treat. This boy will bring smiles to
whoever adopts him. He's a loyal boy with a lot of love to give!

Week 6
Harley continues to do very well! He gets along great with the other dogs
and the other handlers. Harley’s handlers have been working with him in the
block, and although he still gets a little scared from all of the noises,
his confidence is improving each week. Harley shows no shyness when he’s out
in the yard or in his cell. He still has a stubborn streak but it doesn’t
last for long…especially when he receives praise! Harley’s handlers say that
“he will do about anything to get more praise!”
Harley is a very smart and loving dog. He knows his “sit,” “stay,” and
“roll-over” commands, and “his recall is great!” Harley also loves to jump
high in the air for a treat! His handlers report that Harley is “ready to go
out and show off what he has learned.” They feel that whoever adopts Harley
will be very pleased with him, and will be very lucky to be able to call
Harley their very own.

Week 5
Harley is still a little nervous with all of the activity on the block, but
otherwise, he's doing just fine with his training. He continues to excel
with his commands and his recall is great. Harley and Jonas have become
really good pals! As a result, Harley's handlers think that a home that
includes a small dog would be a-okay in Harley's book. His handlers report
that Harley has come a long way in just the short time he has been in the
program! "I believe he is going to make some family very happy. He is a very
smart dog and he loves to be praised. He will do anything to make his owner
happy."

Week 4
Harley continued to work on his commands this week, and his handlers are
happy with his progress! Sometimes Harley's attention goes elsewhere, but he
continues to improve during his time in the program. Harley added
"roll over" to his list of tricks this week. He and Jonas had some
one-on-one time. Although they are still getting used to each other, their
handlers feel that one day they'll be friends and will have a good time
together in the doggie yard. Harley, keep up the good work!

Week 3
This week Harley has been doing well. Harley has all but mastered his
"sit," "stay" and "sit-stay" commands and his handlers are confident that
he'll continue to make progress with his training! Harley still pulls a bit
on his leash, but his handlers are working with him on this issue and they
have seen some solid improvement. He has excellent recall and will respond
to his handlers from anywhere in the yard! Harley is a very smart dog and
picks up on his commands quickly. Of course, Harley receives the
praise and encouragement that he loves as a result of his accomplishments!
Harley is getting along well with all of his pack-mates and loves to run and
play with them! He also feels comfortable with, and will listen to, the
other handlers in the program. Harley is progressing so well that his
handlers think that he should be ready for adoption in just a few short
weeks! Paws crossed...

Week 2
"Harley is doing great!" He's a dog with a lot of energy, and he loves to
play! Harley is getting along with not only his pack-mates, but with all of
the other handlers! Harley's handlers are introducing some new commands into
his training program, and he's picking up on them quickly. Harley is a "fast
learner," and his handlers are sure that he'll be ready for adoption in just
a few weeks! This pup can be protective at times, but "he is all bark." Once
his handlers give him the "no bark" command, our little newcomer will listen
to them and go about his day.
After just two weeks, his handlers feel that Harley will
make a great pet. "He's very loving and loves to be praised and petted."
Harley has already made great strides in his short time in the program, and
his handlers know that he will continue to make more progress under their
loving care and guidance. At this point, Harley just needs a "teacher," oh,
and some pets! Keep up the good work Harley!

Week 1
Harley has only been in the program for a week, but his handlers are already
falling in love with this boy. He is lots of fun and always good for a
laugh (or two, or three, or four...) throughout the day. He already
has a great "recall," even without treats!! But, his true passion is
playing with the other dogs. Every time he gets the chance, Harley is
off and running with his new playmates. He especially adores Brandee.
His handlers say that he has a lot of energy when he's outside, but Harley
will "calm down fast" once he gets indoors. Harley's doggie manners
are excellent. He shares all of his toys, his water bowl and even his
special treats! Welcome to the program, Harley! We're sure you're
going to do great!
