Week 8
Well, Fortune will be heading off to his new home this weekend.  He had a chance to test out the new doggie bathtub after he and Reggie romped around in the yard for a bit and he was quite pleased with the improved level of spa treatment!  Fortune is busy packing his favorite toys and belongings now so that he can get started on what are sure to be the best years of his life.  Good luck, Fortune!

Week 7
Fortune has had a busy week.  Part of his homework was to help out Phoenix.  So, he has been sharing his evening playtime with Phoenix and helping to bring the shy boy out of his shell.  Fortune is great at getting everyone to relax and Phoenix is no exception to that rule.  Fortune loves to play and be silly and that sort of attitude is very contagious.  I don't think there's a person (or dog) in the world that couldn't have fun with Fortune!!

Week 6
Fortune is endless entertainment!  He has such a sense of humor in everything he does and you just can't help but smile to be around him.  He always manages to find his way over to you for an extra pet or kiss when he's supposed to be working, but who can say no to that!  Fortune is one of the nicest and funniest dogs we've ever had the pleasure to know!!

Week 5
What a funny boy this Fortune has turned out to be.  He is so popular everywhere he goes.  People just seem to be drawn to him and want to stop and pet him.  He's a little bit of an attention hog when it comes to the other dogs too, but he's learning to take his turn.  After all, he's the baby of the bunch!  Fortune has a lot of valentines this year and hopefully he'll have a home of his very own soon!  Fingers crossed...

Week 4
Well, Fortune's attitude adjustment didn't take long.  This week, he is back to his usual, adorable self.  He loves to be in your lap whenever there is petting to be had and never misses an opportunity to be snuggled.  He and the other dogs have really found their groove and love to play together.  Fortune even lets Reggie, the new pup, sleep over sometimes when his handler has to go to work.  He is coming right along and will surely make someone a wonderful companion!!

Week 3
Fortune found his bossy pants this week and gave his handlers a run for their money.  By the end of the week, it was clearly decided that the handlers were the official boss but it was definitely a close race!  Fortune had little to no structure in his original home, so his handlers are teaching him that good behavior has lots of rewards.  They're also teaching him that he has responsibilities and a role to play in their relationship.  For Fortune this week, nothing in life will be free.  He'll be working extra hard for all of the extra toys and treats that are normally free flowing.  But, in the end, this will make a huge difference for him and help to lay a strong foundation for his new family to continue.  Stay tuned to see how he progresses...

Week 2
What a difference a week makes.  Fortune has turned into a different dog this week.  He and his handlers are working hard on his leash manners which is often difficult due to the fact that Fortune seems to be a magnet for any and all people who pass him.  It's not at all strange to see whole groups of staff members stop to visit with him and giggle about how sweet and wonderful this little boy is.  He is wonderful in his crate and is really making a lot of friends.  This is one very special boy!!

Week 1
Fortune and his handlers have spent most of this week negotiating who the boss is going to be.  By the end of the week, the handlers had secured a slim margin of victory and Fortune is beginning to learn his role of student.  He still bosses Merrick around on a regular basis, but he's definitely coming around.  We are really looking forward to seeing how things develop with this little guy.  He is a little fireball full of fun and energy.  Stay tuned...

NEW UPDATE
This little boy is going to be a heartbreaker!  He is adorable and so, so friendly.  Check back often to see how he is progressing during his stay at the prison.  Fortune is a gorgeous American Eskimo Dog who is available for adoption through Eskie Rescuers United.  Stay tuned for next week's update.
