Week 7
Brownie’s handler reports that he’s a star when it comes to doing his tricks and playing with the other dogs.  This pup still has some pause when it comes to the females in his life (especially one who he encounters often).  But, that doesn’t daunt her.  She still keeps trying to be Brownie’s friend, and we know in time he will accept her into his world.  You’re on your way to a forever home, sweet pup!

Update: Brownie has headed back to his foster home to wait for his perfect match. Stay tuned for updates from his foster mom.

Week 6
Brownie made a new friend this week. His new friend is aout four times his size and as gentle as they come -- Thunder! The two of them run and play together as if they were long lost buddies. Brownie loves to chase Thunder all over the dog yard and then they switch and chase the other way. It's adorable to see such an odd couple having such a blast together. Brownie is working on his commands and making good progress. He's still a little leery of female friends, but once he has a chance to get up close and give them a sniff, her relaxes and settles down. He absolutely loves his squirrel toy and will do just about anything to play with it. He's a good boy who's definitley on his way to better days.

Week 5
Brownie loves toys! He especially likes anything that squeaks and will play and play and play until he tires out. Now, we just have to work on teaching him to give the toys back! His handler describes him as a "cat who barks." His behaviors are a lot like those of a cat, but then he gets a little puppy streak during playtime and he's all dog again. Brownie is doing better with his pack manners. He's more comfortable if he has the chance to take the lead and get the first sniff. It's easier for him to make friends that way and so far he has made several. He likes to spend time with Xena, Angel, Thunder and Kelsey.

Week 4
Brownie was introduced to a new handler this week. Since this pup tends to be cautious about the new folks in his world, as well as liking his toys to himself, that was the focus of his training.   “I’m having him meet as many people as we can.  My goal is to have his fear factor be 0 out of 10.   Also, he was trying to hide some of his toys.  If he saw me looking at his hide spot, he would move them. He did that about seven times before he came to me to play with the toys with him.  Brownie is just one of those dogs that you have to love.”

Week 3
“Brownie is adjusting and doing well.”  His handler focused on this pup’s basic training and introducing him to new people and the other dogs.  Brownie worked with Rambo and Thunder to hone his socialization skills this week.  “We have been making efforts in this area, but with caution because of his small stature.”  Keep being your cute little self, Brownie!

Week 2
Brownie’s handler reports that, although he still becomes startled by loud noises, and is not too sure about all of the new people in his life, his pup is settling into his new environment.  He has already learned his sit, down, stay/wait and paw commands, and “we play the candy game with strangers.  That has made him more interested in meeting people.  We also have been focused on people coming to the door and entering the cell without Brownie reacting.  He simply needs time, love and patience. Fortunately, I have plenty of all of the above.  He is a little cuddle muffin. There is nothing he likes to do more than lay down real close to you or on you.”  Relax, and enjoy your new adventures, Brownie!

Week 1
Brownie’s handler only had him for 2-1/2 days when he wrote his report, and he already says  that “it has been an absolute pleasure thus far.  I am using the first week as our getting to know each other period.  We have bonded well so far, and he is doing well.  He’s been giving short barks and growls at people, which was expected.  He is okay with a couple of the other handlers, but I’ll be making more introductions the start of next week.” Brownie is not fond of his crate at all (he’d rather be circling his handler’s feet.)  “This is something I will work with him on.”  This pup started to work on his sit and watch commands, and although he’s “doing okay with them, he’ll begin his formal training next week. Brownie is adorable, and I look forward to the time I will be able to spend with him!!”  A very good first report, little boy!!  We’re looking forward to hearing about next week’s adventures!
