Week 9
Bo got paroled from the big house to his forever family on Friday! We’ll all
miss you, sweet pup, but we are so very happy for you! Best of luck to you
in your new home, Bo!

Week
8
Bo had another good week! Although this pup walks well on-leash with his
handlers, he still hasn’t gotten the hang of it with other folks. It looks
like there might be some more homework on leash skills in your future, Bo!
As for his interaction with the other humans and dogs he sees on a daily
basis, Bo’s handlers report that “he loves to meet new people every day, and
plays a lot more with them. He plays with Maggie all of the time. They have
a special way of playing, and all is good.” Bo amused his handlers this
week, because he “makes his own bed now. It’s funny to watch him move his
blanket around to make his bed more comfortable.” You’re a sweetie, Bo. Now
all you need is to have someone fall in love with you, and adopt you!

Weeks 6 & 7
Bo continues to progress each week he’s in the program! He still has a
tendency to pull while he’s on-leash, but his handlers continue to work with
him on that issue. They are proud to report that he’s “a gold star” when it
comes to his sits, downs, stays, paw, roll-over and sit pretty commands!
This boy is also a star when it comes to his interaction with the other
folks on the block and the other dogs in the program! “He loves people, the
other dogs and the attention he gets, so there’s no problem there. Bo had a
blast this week with all of the handlers playing with him in the dog runs!”
Although our handlers keep up with their dogs’ routine grooming, on the
first Monday of each month, Annette from Dirty Dog Mobile Makeover
(717-308-1900) parks her vehicle outside of the prison walls to spiff the
kids up a bit more than our handlers are able to do. Bo’s handlers reported
this week that “everyone loves Bo’s new hair cut! They think he looks
better.” This pup was a cutie even before his new “do.” Now he needs a
family to look into that face every day and give him the love he so wants
and deserves. Could that be you?

Week 5
Bo was introduced to an additional handler this week, and although he was
skeptical of him at first, he quickly adjusted to having someone else in his
space. This pup is still working on his pulling issues when in the company
of people other than his main handler, but “everything else is good.” Bo
also attended CPAA’s Woofstock event last Sunday, and true to his main
handler’s report last week, he made friends with his good looks and happy
tail! Bo is still a work in progress with his pulling while on leash, but he
did his handlers proud! He was a great little ambassador after just four
weeks in the program, and we know that he’ll continue to grow and thrive
under his handlers’ care. Paws crossed for a forever home (and hot dog
treats), Bo!

Week 4
Bo’s handler introduced him to his paw and roll-over commands this week.
Although this pup already excels at sitting and lying down, he still needs
some work on his loose-leash walking and stays at a long distance. Bo’s
handler will continue to work on those skills so that he can excel at them
as well! This pooch also is becoming a member of his pack. “Bo loves playing
with the other dogs when the other handlers are out playing with them.” As
for his personality, this pup’s handler has nothing but good things to say
about him. “Bo makes friends really fast because of his good looks.
Everybody loves it when Bo’s little stub of a tail moves really fast.” If
you’re thinking about adopting this sweet boy, you should also know that he
likes to cuddle up in bed and have his belly scratched. You’ve come such a
long way, little Bo! Keep listening to your handler, and we know you’ll find
a forever home!

Week 3
His handler reports that Bo now sits and does his down commands “pretty
good. He can also roll over and sit pretty. He still doesn’t do the paw
command yet, but we’re working on it.” Bo surprised some of the people on
the tier this week! When he first arrived in the program, he didn’t feel
comfortable with them in his world. Now, he really loves greeting them to
the point that they comment, “are you sure that’s the same dog? He didn’t
like me when I first met him.” What an accomplishment, Bo! We’re proud of
you sweet boy!

Week 2
Bo has “been coming along very well this week. He likes to meet new people
now and women even more so.” This pup continued to work on his sit, stay,
down and watch me commands, and his loose-leash walking skills are “almost
achieved.” Bo is very good in his crate when his handler isn’t in their cell
(he doesn’t bark…he just sleeps). This pup also loves his play time! “Bo
loves playing with his favorite squeaky toys, and he can’t get enough of
being outside. Every time I grab his leash, he goes crazy and knows it’s
time to go out.” This pup has already earned bed privileges. “He loves to
sleep in bed with me, and doesn’t bother me at all.” What a report for your
second week, Bo! Keep up the good work, little boy!

Week 1
Bo’s handler reports this pup was very hesitant around him when they first
met. After just a few days, though, “he is very affectionate with me.” Bo’s
handler eased into his training. “He sits very well, and I’m working on his
lie down, stay and sit/stay commands. Bo has good eye contact.” This handler
likes to regale us with the humorous side the dogs entrusted in his care.
Bo, understandably, “hasn’t done anything really funny yet, but I think
he’ll come around. It’s still his honeymoon period.” We know that you’re in
good hands, Bo!

UPDATE
8-20-11
Bo landed himself in jail today. He has had a rough year filled with
transitions and we hope that we can provide just the safety net he needs to
start fresh. Bo will be learning basic manners, as well as getting a
much needed boost to his self confidence. He lacks trust and needs to
feel safe so he can move forward and get ready for a home of his very own..
Bo is a handsome, four year old Cocker Spaniel who is available for adoption through
Cocker Spaniel
Adoption Center. Stay tuned
for next week's update.
