Week 12
Blue was joined in foster care this week by his pals Domino and Jet.  All three have finished their HOPE training and are awaiting their new homes in foster care with Canine Rescue of Central PA.  We hope you'll take a look at Blue and see the amazing dog that we've all come to know and love.  He's a gorgeous, one year old who just happens to be deaf.  He's great with children and loves any sort of game you're willing to play.  He can be choosy about the other dogs he allows into his pack, but once they're in it's like they've been friends forever.  We hope you'll take a look at this sweetheart and give him the chance he deserves!

Week 11
Blue had another fun week with his dog buddies.  He headed to a new family, but in the end it just didn't work out for him.  However, he has finished his prison term and will now be waiting for his forever home to come along while he's in foster care.  We hope it's nice and quick so he can get started with the rest of his life as soon as possible!

Week 10
It's hard to believe that Blue has been with us for so long already.  Everyone loves this boy so very much and he will be sorely missed when he finally finds the home where he belongs.  Despite being one of our longer-term residents, he's as happy-go-lucky now as the day we first met him back in December.  Blue is a joy to be around.  He loves to play, never runs out of kisses and just adores the company of people and other dogs.  He's learned plenty of skills and now just needs to find that perfect match.  Paws crossed...

Week 9
Week nine and still Blue waits patiently.  He doesn't let the wait get him down.  He stays happy and upbeat with all his paws crossed hoping that maybe this will be his lucky week.  We should all have such a good attitude when it comes to the ups and downs of life.  Blue keeps strengthening his skills with daily practice and keeping tabs on whatever his handler happens to be doing.  He likes to hop up onto his handlers lap with his front paws whenever his handler is sitting at his desk just so he can keep hi nose in things and see what's going on.  He is such a sweet boy and we all love him to pieces!

Week 8
Everyone just adores Blue and no one can quite figure out why he still hasn't been adopted.  He is such a sweet dog, well-mannered with people, loved by all the other dogs and just as nice as can be.  The best we can figure is that he has been overlooked for being deaf which is so sad to everyone who knows him.  Blue is a fabulous boy!  He loves to play, loves to snuggle and can't get enough attention from the people around him.  He has a great sense of humor and regularly makes his handlers crack up with laughter.  We know there has to be a home that's just right for him.  Maybe it's you!!

Week 7
Blue's handler discovered this week that Blue likes bananas.  Of course, it was his handler's banana that he was taste testing, but that just made the whole incident funnier.  Blue brings a lot of laughter everywhere he goes.  He's always up for a game of chase or tug and he loves to steal toys from his doggie friends and then run around with them.  After that, it's off to bed.  His handler says that Blue dreams a lot and is always making lots of funny noises in his sleep!

Week 6
Blue loves his chew toys, especially rawhides.  He particularly likes to hide them.  He's a bit forgetful though when it comes to remembering where his super hiding places are.  This week his handler found Blue's rawhides in his boot and even one in his pillow case!  What a goofy boy.  Blue loves to play with his new buddy Jet.  The two of them run and wrestle for hours and have an absolute ball together!   Blue was working on his "stays" this week and showed terrific improvement.  He also learned how to shake!

Week 5
Blue has a new tactic for getting his doggie friends to play with him.  He walks right over and lays right in front of their feet.  For just a second though, because once his friends engage it's off to the races.  His commands are all solid and his handlers have been working extra hard on his "stays" this week.  They've had great results.  But, anyone who's ever had the pleasure of meeting Blue wouldn't expect any different.  He's the sweetest boy you'll ever meet and now all he needs is a home to call his own.  He'd do best with a fenced in yard so that he can have free time off leash and still be safe since he can't hear the sounds around him.  Do you think you might like to meet Blue?  We're all head over heels in love with him and know that you will be too!

Week 4
Blue had a lovely day out at Borders on Saturday.  We learned all sorts of things about him.  For instance, Blue adores children.  Every time he tugged on the leash, we knew there must be child nearby.  He was extremely gentle and well-mannered and made his handlers very proud.  Blue was a social butterfly all afternoon and just had a ball meeting all of the people...and showing off his tricks.  People were amazed to find out that he is deaf.  Everyone kept commenting on how well-adjusted and well-behaved he was.  Of course, we've known all along that Blue is really something special, whether he can hear or not.  We'll keep all of our fingers and paws crossed that Blue finds a home as special as he is very soon!

Week 3
Blue is continuing to make everyone around him smile with pride.  He has learned most of his basic commands and is thoroughly enjoying all of the playtime that he gets in the dog yard...both with his handler and with the other dogs.  He spent almost an hour today running around the big doggie yard with Butch and his handler and loving every minute of it.  It is so neat to watch him communicate with his handler.  There aren't many words involved since Blue is deaf, but there is no mistaking the sweetness in the way he looks at his human friends and the joy he exhibits when playing with his doggie buddies.  This boy is truly one in a million and someone will be extremely lucky to call him part of their family!

Week 2
Blue mastered housetraining in just a few days.  Then it was on to his basic commands which he took to without much hesitation.  Blue is deaf so he is learning solely through hand signals.  But, that's actually not much different than how all of the other dogs are trained.  They all learn the same hand signals that Blue is learning too!  Aside from the training, the staff is learning just what a love Blue is.  He is so friendly and easy going.  He loves the other dogs and adores being around people.  He is truly wonderful to be around!!

Week 1
Blue is off to a great start.  He has such a wonderful personality that it's hard not to fall head over heels in love with him at first sight.  He's always happy to share a kiss (or two, or three) and stay for a snuggle (or two, of three)!  His handlers are just getting to know him this week before the real training begins.  Good luck, Blue!!

UPDATE
Blue started school this week.  Blue is a very special dog.  In addition to being sweet, playful and very lovable...Blue is also deaf.  Since dogs learn best through hand signals, his training will be very much the same as the other dogs in the program.  Plus, there'll be lots of support for the lucky person who gets to adopt this boy!  Stay tuned to see how he did in his first week!  Blue is available for adoption through Canine Rescue of Central PA.
