UPDATE:  10/19/07
Well, Belle has certainly received a raw deal when it comes to adoptions.  She's had two adoptions fall through and due to no fault of her own.  That makes us so sad because Belle is just a wonderful dog and deserves much better than this!  She is sweet and loyal, playful and goofy and just a doll to be around.  She gets along with most dogs and adores children.  She likes people and just needs a little time to warm up to strangers.  She would love a home with another dog so she can romp and play to her heart's content.  Do you have room in your heart and home for a sweet girl like Belle?

Week 10
Belle had a wonderful week!  She had so much fun with the new agility equipment and especially loved the tunnel!  She also went on a field trip to doggie daycare and made friends with another St. Bernard, a Doberman and seven Greyhounds!  Belle has come such a long way and this weekend she found her new home.  We are all so very proud of her and can't wait to see her get a fresh start with her new family.  Way to go Belle!!

Week 9
Belle has become the official welcoming committee for all new dogs entering the program.  She gives them a nice, warm greeting and then introduces them to the joys of playtime in the doggie yard.  She found a new playmate in Pluto this week and the two of them have bee having a ball for the last three days!  Miss Belle even had a grooming session this week.  She enjoyed licking some cheese from her handlers hand while having her nails trimmed.  She was a perfect lady and was all set and ready for bellyrubs once her nails had been finished!!

Week 8
Belle continues to impress and amaze all of the handlers in the program.  She has learned wonderful manners when greeting other dogs and she has very nearly overcome her fear of strangers...entirely!  This is such a huge accomplishment for this sweetheart of a dog.  All she needed was a little time and now she has truly blossomed!  We are all so very proud of her.

Week 7
Belle has become quite a charmer!  She was a wonderful ambassador for the program this week when she greeted the new deputy with a nice, sloppy kiss and happy, waggy tail!  Plus, she occasionally gets to accompany the officers on their regular rounds.  She walks nicely, right alongside them and listens intently as they do their work.  She has found a new best buddy in Brody who arrived this week.  The two of them play and play and play and then play some more!  She has come such a long way since she started the program and someone will be very lucky to call her their very own.  She would love to have a home with another dog, preferably a playful male like the ones she has befriended here at the jail.  Belle has really turned a corner and now it's just a matter of patience while we wait with all paws crossed for her forever home to find her.  Do you have room in your heart and home for this beautiful girl?

Week 6
Belle is half way through her training and she continues to impress everyone!  She still gets a little nervous around new people and lets out a bark, but she's easily redirected.  When she first arrived, she didn't want anyone to come near her.  Now, she loves to spend time with the other handlers, get treats from the officers and go for walks to meet new people!  It's so wonderful to see the change in her and see her confidence begin to grow.    She is an absolutely beautiful girl and someone will be very lucky to call her a part of their family.  She's become a favorite of the staff and we can't wait for her to find her special home!

Week 5
Belle had another fun week with her best buddy, Bailey.  She would love a home of her own with another dog just like him.  They love to romp and play in the doggie yard and then take a dip in the pool to cool off.  She just loves to play.  She's still just a young kid, not even two years old yet, so a buddy would be a great energy release for her.  Do you have a dog at home who's looking for a best friend?  You may have just found her!!

Week 4
Belle is one of the most fun loving dogs we've ever had the pleasure to have in the program!  She never misses the chance to join in a game and is like doggie therapy to everyone she meets.  She had a lot to learn when she first started the program a month ago, but she has made huge strides every week!  Her manners have improved 100% and she has shown such a willingness and desire to learn that her handlers have taught her loads of commands.  She continues to progress each week with her leash walking and has even started to accept other females into her pack.  Belle is a diamond in the rough and someone will be very lucky to call her a part of their family.  You can meet Belle this weekend on Sunday, August 5th from 11-2 at Borders Books and Music in Camp Hill.  Hope to see you there!

Week 3
Belle loves to play!!!  She loves to play with Bailey and Georgie.  She loves to play with her squeaky toys.  She loves the new kong toy she got this week.  And, she loves chasing the toy her handler tied to a string and drags behind him around the block!  She's not too keen on other female dogs, but she loves her "boys!"  Belle has mastered her manners when it comes to meeting new people.  This was a big struggle for her at first, but she has really done well.  This week, her handlers will be working with her on her manners when she meets other dogs.  She tends to want to get there as fast as she can so they'll have their work cut out for them.  Check back next week to see how this smart, beautiful girl handled her lessons!

Week 2
What a difference a week makes!  Belle's leash manners continue to improve with each day.  She can already be walked nicely by each of the handlers in the group and it's been so good for her to be with lots of different people and feel totally safe!  She is such a funny girl and she definitely likes to be the boss.  We've discovered that she's not a huge fan of other female dogs, but boy does she love the boys!  She and Bailey have a ball and this week she befriended Georgie as if she's known him her whole life!  She made him feel right at home.  What a sweet girl!!

Week 1
Belle is off to a great start.  She made friends with Bailey this week and the two have been looking to get playtime started ever since.  They love to run and pay together in the big doggie yard and then flop down for a nap after they've completely tuckered themselves out.  This week, Belle is working on her leash manners.  She gets very nervous when she sees strangers coming so her handlers are working with her to make those experiences less scary.  Stay tuned...
