UPDATE
Well, we're a little bit behind on our updates, but we're thrilled to let you know that Abby is headed to her new forever home this week!  She has come leaps and bounds in her time at the prison.  She started out as a painfully shy dog who would cower if anyone even looked at her.  Now, she likes to meet new people, loves to play with her doggie friends and is looking forward to starting a new life.  Good luck Abby!!!  We're all rooting for you!!

Week 6
Abby has had another great week.  She is really starting to gain some confidence and come out of her shell.  She also has developed a love for the pillow of one of her handlers.  He says that whenever they are just hanging out and watching television, Abby lays at the end of his bunk.  But, if he gets up for any reason, by the time he returns, Abby has curled up on his pillow and is as comfy as can be!!

Week 5
Abby is just a doll!  She is getting braver with each passing week and has even started to approach some of the "strangers" that her handlers have been recruiting to help her.  She has come such a long way in the short time we've known her.  She adores her handlers and just loves to play with the other dogs.  She has a big heart in a small package and anyone would be lucky to have her as part of their family!

Week 4
Abby has really found her comfort zone with the other dogs.  She has so much fun playing with everyone on the doggie yard and the handlers say she is most definitely the "boss" of the pack.  What a change from the scared little girl who came in just a few weeks ago.  Abby would make a great addition to just about any family.  She is sweet, gentle and very loving.  Plus, she is going through her training classes with such ease.  What a catch this little girl will be for the family that opens their home to her!!

Week 3
It was Abby's week to shine.  A good portion of the training class was focused on raising her comfort level with everyone in the group.  At first she was a bit hesitant and would have preferred to hide behind her handler, but the HOPE Trainer made it into a game for her.  By the end, she was waiting expectantly for each handler to come by so she could sneak a treat from them.  With a little time, she'll have her self-confidence built up and she'll be ready for anything!

Week 2
Abby's working hard.  She tries her best to spend some time with a new person each day.  Sometimes her homework is to let one of the officers approach and drop a treat to her and sometimes it's to let another one of the handlers take her for a walk.  She gets a little braver every time we see her.  Stay tuned to see her improvements!!

Week 1
What a week Abby has had!  Our shy little girl who would barely talk to anyone on her first day has really come out of her shell this week.  When her handler was out on the hallway of the block picking out new toys for her, Abby was sneaking out of the cell behind him to see what he was up to.  Every time he would turn around she would listen right away when he would tell her to "go back home."  She was waiting for those toys though and has been enjoying them ever since.  She is also starting to play with the other dogs in the big yard.  She and Sully love to play chase and she has also taken to Snowy right away.  This little girl is going to be fun to watch!!

NEW UPDATE
Abby has made quite an impression in her first few days!!  Her handlers report that she is already peeking her head out of the cell, which is quite a big step for her.  She is an adorable corgi/beagle/terrier mix who is available for adoption through Farpoint Collie Rescue.  Stay tuned for next week's update.
